4 Days of Love (cab mate)

Introduction :

This is a short story of a person who works in corporate field , he is back to office post pandemic which was his desperate wish as he is mentally disturbed by working at home and looking forward for the same vibes which he had before pandemic...

First Day : 

The Day for him is not quiet good as he is expected because some of the friends were not in his project , some of them are already left the organisation . Some of them are not interested to turn up to office etc ...

He don't have proper person to accompany him and he went for breaks alone so felt very bored at office . Finally his shift got over and went to the cab area to board his allocated Taxi , he is more thinking of to reach home quickly and take rest as he was bit tired .There are so many personnel standing around there and he was upset as he couldn't board quickly but he kept his patience and started to wait for some more time ..

The Moment when he turned to his right which he didn't did from the beginning and felt sad for not doing so . Yes , he saw a girl may be around the distance of 10ft . Despite many turned up there , his eyes focused on her . She looks pretty to him but later he decided not to look at her due to his bad past experiences in life and making himself quiet . At last , he got his allocation and went to take a seat . He is not sure whether this is fortune or misfortune , she was too same cab and both sat next to each other . He pretends to not look at her but still and after some time he turns his eyes looking at the path . She is getting down before him so he got to know her house . He reached home then he thought about her but felt asleep faster as he had a very long day ..

Second Day :

As usual, he moved to cab area after his shift getting over . He searched and found her , By the way both got same taxi today also since their house were nearby . There is not much light around the area so by mistakenly she assumed him as the driver and asked to pick the car . He didn't spoke anything and just stood simply and looking at her . After few seconds she realised that it is her mistake and asked apologise for that ... 

Actually he is thinking to begin the conversation with her but waiting on how to do and funnily this incident opens the gate for him . Both of them introduced themselves and explained about their work nature etc . Now he want to get her number but not sure how to ask . He is unsure what if she takes this as mistake to ask for a number in very short time so he kept quiet ... She got down and after some time he also gets down.

Third Day : 

Both greeted each other and started to begin conversation , he had a very sad moment as she informed him that she is in Notice period and about to spend last day in the organisation by next week . He was heart broken deep inside but he didn't showcased externally. he simply said " oh ok fine" with a slight hurdle in his voice . She started to check her phone whereas he directed his eyes to the right side of the window and started noticing her . Though she is not the most beautiful girl he ever came across but still she is having some style in her by means of in unique way of carrying herself , the way she communicates , the way she looks , the way she converses have something which pushes him towards her . She looks simple not preferred to groom fancily but she has done straightening and always comfortable with pony tail which suits her perfectly as stars made it itself in the sky , She used to wore earings & hair band in similar colour .

Meanwhile, She got down as driver reached her house , he slowly thinking whether she knows that he is looking at her or she don't know anything and treating him like just another guy for her .

He didn't saw her for past 3 days excluding weekends , he was very saddened and assumed she might have completed her last day in the organisation. 

Fourth Day : 

Usually he will meet her in cab area but this day he started to search when he was going for break and after very long time he saw her walking towards him but she was speaking in phone so she didn't saw him when they crossed each other. He don't know what to do whether to go/turn around and walk towards her again but he didn't do that . There are so many phases in the building so he just followed behind her and noticed which phase she is going . She is working in phase 2 whereas he is phase 1 but he don't know which floor she is so he noticed that she and along with 3 friends getting inside the lift , for a moment he thought to join them but he didn't and simply watched where the lift stops , it stops at 2nd floor so he assumed that her cabinet should be at 2nd floor. He then went there and when the lift opens , he is quiet uncomfortable as many personnel were there as he don't know anyone but still he searched her by walking around casually , unable to find her . He then came to his workstation as his break time is getting extended and need to finish his remaining work.

He then came for dinner and as expected his eyes were wandering . He found her in a gift shop where her friends are doing farewell so he understands this should be her last working day . He recollected one thing when they last met in cab , she told that she will come by on her own so he knows that she will not come by cab today and he couldn't get her number anymore if he misses now . He literally walked and stands on the opposite of the gift shop so that when she can see him when coming out . She saw him in some distance and said " hi " , he also said hi and started walking towards her but she again went inside the shop as her colleagues were calling her . He gets tensed as he was waiting since morning to speak with her but she didn't spoke anything and went inside. This makes him irritated and he left the place immediately without turning back . He finished his dinner and went to his workstation to complete his remaining work . He came to cab area , he is thinking that he could have waited for few mins so that she might have come and spoken with him , it's his anger which cost him not to wait and move on from there. While he is thinking somebody tapped his shoulder behind him , his wish is this should be her who is tapping from behind so he turned like the " start of a sprinter " . It is not her and it's his best friend Geetha as she was returned to chennai from native just this morning turned to offz straight away . Geetha's home is very near by to his home , infact next street . They both usually travel in same cab before pandemic so she is very happy that he is going to accompany her . Meanwhile , he is not at all in the mood to listen Geetha , all his mind is thinking about her that he missed to converse and now no any other chance to meet her again ..He was simply shaking his head to Geetha without listening anything, Suddenly his eyes got magnified after seeing one person. Yes it is her who is coming with her frds behind the vehicle . She saw him but didn't spoke anything to him and still continuing her talk with friends . She is sharing her feelings that going to miss her friends and taking snaps . After sometime she approached him and asked for sorry that unable to response properly at the time of dinner as she was busy with the farewell send off . He replied " yeah understood, no problem" . He is got excited now and trying to get her number at least now but not sure how to start . He takes long breathe and made himself to ask her straight away but suddenly from nowhere there is a enchants from Geetha that cab is allocated and she is dragging him towards their cab . These are the thoughts which is going in his mind " is Geetha really my best friend , infact worst friend . Not even allowing me to get the number " Even thought he is disappointed in one way , he is still laughing inside of things going on . One more time he tried to ask the number but this time she got cab allocation to different taxi so she said bye to him and left the place. All his happiness is gone like wind , one side he is trying to get the number as today is her last day another sid Geetha is terribly chasing him to go with her . He is unable to explain all these things to Geetha as he don't have time to do so and all are happening rapidly . He suddenly told Geetha that cab is not allocated for him so you board the cab and i will check with the supervisor and come but she is not at all leaving him and asking to stay as he will also get allocated for same cab since both were nearby .. he don't have any other option so he asked her to wait and he will return in 5 mins . Meanwhile he saw her getting boarded in " 8505 " . he straight away went to the cab supervisor and told that he is not allocated with any cab and in reply supervisor told to check with " 6106 " . In return he replied that cab is not around here without leaving any gap in conversation , he didn't allowed the supervisor to speak and asked to allocate him in " 8505 " as it is going near by home . Supervisor stopped the car which is about to exit and requested the driver to drop him also . He is very happy that going to sit beside her but again an obstacle for his wish . This time driver not accepting to board him as he is having some issues , He is heart broken . Somehow driver convinced and asked him to sit , he was happy to the core and slowly opened the door . She said " oh is it you but i thought someone else , Fine please take a seat " 

He was happy like anything and speechless for a moment. He just did the same thing which he did in 3rd day , he directed his eyes to right side of his window and started admiring her . She weared a yellow printed top with combination of jeans , same hairstyle (pony tail) and other things remains same , half of the time gone by this . In their organisation there is an event about to happen and She was also one among the organisers so he asked her to loop him in that event , he gave his name & number but funnily she didn't asked for his number in return as she don't have anything to do with that. He don't know what to do but without any delay he tried to ask her number because he knew that getting in her cab itself is very lucky and if we miss this opportunity then we can't get better chance so he just clears his throat to ask meanwhile her friend from front started speaking for sometime about his last day and his mind voice is like " who the hell these guy is , spoiling his opportunities " Curiously he had one thought , is she leaving the organisation because of marriage? Omg he is upset again and he asked with so much dread in his mind " why you are leaving the organisation, is it because of your marriage or some other thing . she replied " No , not because of marriage " , he took long breathe and this would have been the longest in his life . The next answer from her is even more worsen for him , " She stated that going to travel Abroad so quitted her job here ". As we all expected , he is speechless again and didn't uttered any word from his mouth after that . He didn't get her number until the last , though she have his number but he don't have any hope that she will contact him .

By deeply disappointed inside and so his eyes going to see her legs stepping out , her home arrived . He is dialling to Geetha to check whether she reached home and at the same time he could see slowly she is fading away from his eyes , Driver's toes kissing the accelerator so he saw her for one last final time at a 10 feet distance as same as he saw her at the very first instance in the cab area .

Moral : Just go with the flow .
