Varun sped his motorbike through the zebra crossing looking at the amber light on traffic signal which had now turned red just as he crossed the signal area. No sooner he crossed the square a traffic policeman popped out from the corner beside the signal and indicated him to stop. Varun was riding with an elderly person. The cop authoritatively said to Varun, "You have to pay a fine of rupees 500, show me your license fast!".As soon as Varun showed his license the cop confiscated it.Varun complained, "Sir, I was just over the zebra crossing and my bike was at considerable speed when I saw the green signal turning amber".

The policeman replied, "even Amber means an indication to Stop, should I teach you the rules all over again now?"

Varun said, "Sir I was at a high speed, stopping the bike suddenly would have caused it to slip"

To this, the cop replied, "I don't want to listen to any excuses, just pay the fine

Varun said in a requesting tone," I don't have that much money on me right now, all I have is these 200 rupees. The cop pocketed the 200 rupees given by Varun and asked casually, "Is this your father?", as he looked at the elderly gentleman.

To this Varun replied, "No this gentleman is not related to me, I met him just now at the previous traffic signal near the bus stop. He was trying to get a lift to Rajaram Bridge. Most of the people couldn't even hear what he was saying also due to old age, he can't even see properly. Some people just plainly ignored him, thinking he is a roadside beggar standing there to beg.

When I saw him there, I stopped my bike and asked him what was the matter, and he very innocently replied that his son had promised to come at the Rajaram bridge to pick him up. I am really not sure if his son has actually come there or not, but the least I can do is take him to Rajaram bridge and check the situation myself."

The policeman looked at Varun for a few moments and then said"Here, take this money", and handed over the same 200 rupees that he had taken from Varun.''
