Who is a Hero? A real hero? World sees only what you let them see. I am going to show you one such real heroes which would have not crossed your mind but they play a very important role in shaping our society our country. The Librarians!!!

An independent young India needed educated society to scale heights of developed nation and that can be only achieved through education. Thanks to our visionaries we have free education and government libraries across India to help educate each and every person.

The story, I want to tell you, is about a lady by the name Radhamani.

Radhamani stays in a village Mothakkara in Kerala, lush green hilly regions of Waynad district which records the highest rainfall next to Cherrapunji! The district has all year round heavy to very heavy rainfalls, lots of beautiful streams pass by. A naturally rich flora and fauna are the delights of this region. Truly you feel you are in God's land when you travel to this beautiful place. The hills and rains pose it's own problem of accessibility while giving you so much of nature to bask in.

A frail lady in a saree, walking the hills with books to be distributed to village houses. Radhamni is a lady who is called the walking librarian! At the age of 63 she walks daily about 4 to 5 kms, to give her members new books. She carries about 50 books in her cloth bag which she exchanges with her members. She believes if people do not have time to walk through the hilly terrain, amid their work schedule to a library, I will bring them their favorite books to read. She knows what her members like to read and brings them the next set of books accordingly. 

A true inspiration she is! Kerela with the highest literacy rate among the Indian states, has contributions like Radhamani to thank for.
