Toilsome Slave

Toilsome Slave

2 mins
406

‘She looked on the bed sheet

At the blood droplets petite’

She was petrified, she shrieked.

She sensed something hefty

On her feet.

She felt her legs are

Hijacked;

Her strength whacked.

She became the toilsome slave

Of the endless bright red sea!

‘Her mother gave her a muslin cloth

Asked her to put it on

The hand weaved underneath’

Maa – what has happened?

Ignore and go to work, she wept.

She was never guided;

But was always reminded

That she will be an impure soul

From now onwards indeed.

‘She belonged

To a world

Where nobody is concerned

About the hardships she has

To adjure ’

She was edgy about the stains

On the brown wooden bench

That day.

Her body got jam-packed;

She was on gnawing flames.

‘She ran to the teacher

Mam, Mom told me

About this last year’

The teacher handed her the sanitary napkin;

A giant puzzle,

She kept trying

But failed.

The loud hecklings of classmates

Made her stagnate and ashamed.

She became the toilsome slave

Of the endless bright red sea that day!

Her mother told her stories,

Of beautiful warriors

Now, you are one of them, baby,

She whispered.

Stayfree and cherish the womanhood

And be brave;

We bleed to make this world,

We are the evolution,

Never feel ashamed.

‘She is too moody

Her nature is wicked’

Nobody would understand

The pain, the aches, the cramps, the itching,

The heat she feels for five days.

Yes, I’m bad-tempered

She swallowed the fact

Of having mood swings;

No, you are not, darling– He replied.

‘It’s okay! Take care

We will go to your favorite music concert

The next day’

These days can be beautiful too

Some concern, some patience, some care

Is all that she wants.

I should not go to the temple;

Mom, bring her

Her prayers are more heard

His brother restated!

Do you want something?

Dear daughter-in-law

I’m here right beside you

Don’t hesitate and don’t panic.

‘These days can be beautiful too’

Some love, some understanding, some support

Is all that she wants;

In turn of rearing the

Whole Human race.
