A Flurry Of Tears
A Flurry Of Tears
A flurry of tears -
Is that what measures
The depth of my sorrow.
I can endure the ordeal alone
Sans their hesitant sympathy.
An ocean of wealth -
Is that what measures
The height of my happiness?
I can retain the joy to myself
With no resort to hubris.
Bountiful hugs and kisses -
Is that what certifies
The authenticity
Of my pristine love.
I can brave a life, loveless,
Seeking the love eternal.
A will, an affidavit, a witness -
Are they all who attest
The density of my trust?
I can prod myself to evade
A test of that sort.
An unconditional apology
For a fault not committed -
Is that what determines
The tariff of my humility?
I’ll choose their ruthlessness
With my disciplined ego.
