Why Is Seawater Salty?

Once up on a time there lived 2 friends who were Ram and Karan. Ram was very rich and selfish whereas Karan was very poor and a kind hearted person. Once Karan went to Ram's house on the festival of Deepavali for some money. Karan wanted to provide sufficient needs for his family.

Ram refused to lend some money and kicked him out of his house. Karan was upset and started sobbing. An old man was passing by Karan. The old man asked Karan why was he so upset and crying. Karan wept and told the entire story to him. The old man keenly listened to the story and said there is solution for his problem. He asked Karan to carry the heavy bag what the old man was carrying till then. Karan quickly did as told.

The old man told Karan to go to a cave which was 6 km far. He told that Karan had to take a pancake from the old man's house and give it to the three peculiar triplets living there. They would provide and give whatever you ask for. "Don't ask for money, ask for a treadmill which will give whatever you ask for" said the old man. The next morning Karan went to the triplets in the cave, gave the pancake and asked for a treadmill. " Hey, hey, stop here the treadmill will only stop spinning until you cover it with a red cloth" said one of the triplets.

Karan quickly took the treadmill and ran to his house with excitement. His wife and children were hungry and starving for food. Karan immediately asked the treadmill to produce some rice and daal for them.It produced a lot of rice and daal. Karan covered the treadmill cloth as told by one of the triplets. The children,wife and Karan had a hearty meal and went to sleep. He sold the rest of the daal and rice in the market and got a lot of profit. Now, Karan was richer than Ram. Ram was jealous seeing his friend richer than him because of the treadmill.

Once Ram stole the treadmill from Karan's house and was running away to another place. He quickly climbed the boat which was present in the sea along with his wife and children. "Why are you doing this . We left behind everything and running to another place" asked the wife. Ram asked the treadmill to produce salt. Salt was produced in massive amounts. Ram did not know how to stop the production of salt by the treadmill. Finally all 4 died as the boat sunk. It is still believed that the salt is being produced by the treadmill even now.
