What is a soul sister?

So this weekend I was blessed enough to spend the weekend with a few friends of mine.

These women are women I met when I was in a master class for public speaking and we just clicked when we met. We have stayed in touch ever since.

Have you ever met someone and just felt a connection? This is how this was from jump, with these women. We eventually realized that we had all been through the same type of shit in our lives and we wanted to come together to help others.

This last year and a half has been rough on everyone, us included as we all went through our own stuff. Knowing we were feeling a little lost and off kilter we decided that we needed each other.

We needed to come together to talk, to laugh, to cry, to yell, to get all of our frustrations out. We needed each other to hold one another up when we didn't think we could stand any longer.

We realized that even in an Era of The Housewives of who gives a shit and social media trolls, where we see women attacking each other, trying to outdo each other and basically just being ugly there are many of us women out here who don't feel that way.

We know our purpose is to uplift other women, to be there as a community, as a tribe as we call it. I am blessed to have this tribe.

This is my community of women, my Soul Sisters as I refer to them. These are my group of women who keep me going and keep me sane. We all need a community of women to do that for us as we are not meant to be alone. I remember when I was in my abusive marriage and thinking nobody knows what I'm going through. I felt so alone and isolated, it was extremely hard to think that.

I started this blog because I knew that there had to be other women out there like me and that maybe they were feeling this way as well. Based on this principle, we are starting Soul Sisters Soulution, a community by women for women.

We want to be able to have a safe space for women, to learn from each other, to help one another and a place for you to know that you are not alone.

We decided that we all have our special gifts to give others. I have writing and music that helped me through my roughest times. Christine has a life redesign program and Cindy has a background of health and life coaching and together we can offer other women a way to deal with the second half of their lives. We can also teach young women by sharing our mistakes of what we learned along the way.

There is nothing like knowing you have a tribe behind you, cheering you on, uplifting you and being there with a supportive shoulder when life knocks you down. We all need that in our lives.

There have been so many times in my life when I hit rock bottom, when I was trying to just survive day to day in my abusive marriage. It was in those times when my soul sisters were there for me. I am lucky to have a large tribe in my corner, many soul sisters that are here for me.When my parents died, when my girls were eating on my last nerve and while I was going through my horrific divorce, this group of women stood by me, they helped me with whatever I needed. They were there to listen, to help me pack or even help with painting and unpacking my new place. No matter what I needed, these women were here for me.

God even put a group of Christian women in my life as he knew better than I did, that I needed him too. 

So today my friends, I am so proud to announce this collaboration, the start of many events to come. This community that I dreamed about for years, that I knew one day would come to pass. I had this name given to me by God years ago, to be able to one day start this. My dream is to be able to have it as a non-profit and be able to teach women skills to get back into the workplace. To be able to be self sufficient, to show them they can start over and that they always have us, their Soul Sisters behind them.
