Year 2080 AD: Human civilisation is on the brink of self-destruction, either through burning up all their resources or burning up the planet.

Year 700 RE: Human civilisation has rebuilt itself upon the ashes of a planet depleted of fuel resources, a brave 'New World' of stone houses and electric vehicles. But just how long can this uncertain balance last before humankind's ambitions take over again?

Railan has been alone for as long as he can remember. Well, for almost as long. He does remember life with his mother in Talwa, full of sunshiny days spent together on the beach. But that was before. Before his mother had gone off on one of her expeditions and never returned. Now that he's almost an adult, Rai's made up his mind to go out into the world and build a new life for himself. But when he discovers an ancient research journal that proposes a strange cause for the apocalypse 700 years ago, his journey takes a sharp turn into saving the world. But sometimes the world doesn't really want to be saved…

Hani has things to do. A child to cook for and tuck into bed and sing to. Piles of historical documents to pore over, long overdue. A garden to weed, very long overdue. Unearthing an ancient secret that forces her to leave her life behind and be on the run isn't on that list. But when a teenager turns up at her door with only a dangerous idea and no clue what he's doing, she finds herself roped into his journey. But Hani has both things to do and things she wants to do, and saving the world is neither of them…

Join Railan and Hani on their journey to find answers: could there be hope of a better future for a humanity risen from the ashes of its own greed?
