Untiring Marital Bond'

Both are powerful personalities, a power couple - very famous in their fields and they are in the same field. Two prestigious doctors living a marital life with extreme cordiality and mutual understanding. All get surprised. Doesn't Ego exist in between them? Our society is used to accept the superiority of husband but Equality between couples is still to be digested. 

Mr. and Mrs. Mehta are a very humorous, light-hearted couple very much in love as if God has made them for each other, true soulmates. Their children have settled abroad and due to love for the nation, they are in India. 

One question arises on a daily basis and is asked to them by their friends, relatives, and acquaintances. They are in the hospital, in-home, on the tour and still, they are not bored with each other. How is it possible? One of their common friends decides to find the secret and visits them to stay at night.

After dinner, he is surprised to see that both of them are heading to different rooms. He thinks their amicability is only for the outer world. In reality, it is a broken family. However, he determines to talk to them separately and knocks at MRS. Mehta's room. The door gets opened and to his amazement, the doctor in a day turns to be a painter. The entire room is filled with canvases, big paintings with the name of Mrs. Mehta. He stays there for a while and delights to see the doctor, mostly in a white coat, now painting with a plethora of vivid colors. He leaves saying good night and knocks at another room where Mr. Mehta is present.

Mr. Mehta greets him gladly and introduces him to his world of books. The doctor is busy with words, images, and fanciful imageries. He is a writer and manhandling surgical equipment is penning down his delicate feelings and emotions on paper with a pen.

The next morning, while having breakfast the visitor asks about the new roles they play. The answer is worth proclaiming. One of them starts: 'When children need us, they find our full attention, support, and love. Now they have settled abroad. For long 21 years, we have been fulfilling our duties as parents, doctors, and friends. Only a year ago when this big house remains with two of us, we decide to adopt our hobbies as children. Since then every night we are with our hobby children in different rooms and next morning find ourselves highly charged to face the world. This is the secret of our happiness and peace of mind. In one year my wife is known as an internationally acclaimed painter and I am a best seller book author. We have decided not to divulge the secret in the hospital as we daily strive to snatch life from the clutches of Death.'

 The visitor is requested not to unveil the other part of their lives. He is overwhelmed with their wisdom and way of living and bids adieu to the loveliest couple.

 

Little separation always strengthens the bond. Little distance brings hearts closer. Having own space and living in that space is very important for everyone. If this truth is accepted, marital life is a bliss.
