Trip To Wether - The First Part Of Their Journey
“Flight to Wether departing in 15 minutes. Please proceed to gate 3,” said the speakers. My heart was thumping and I held on tight to my father’s hand. “Why are we leaving Donniele behind?” I asked father, his face turning into a blur. “Now, now don’t cry Lilianne, they didn’t allow her to. They only let us go past,” replied father, bending down to wipe my tears with his handkerchief. I sniffed and when we finally made it to the gate, I felt sick to my stomach. Father sighed and tucked my ginger hair behind my ears, revealing the heart-shaped earrings I had worn as a memory of Donniele if I never get to see her again. “We’ll phone-call then, will we not?” said Father, leading me to the line of people waiting to get inside the plane.
I nodded sluggishly. Earth was now almost inhabitable, and the world chose specific people to go to Wether, another planet like Earth. They chose me and Father, which meant I had to leave Donniele, my beloved sister, and Mother behind. They were coming too, but that might be a little too late. I then saw a familiar face. “Donniele?” I said, turning my head to the person. “They let us pass,” said Mother, following Donniele to the line of people. Father was extremely happy too, and tears seemed to be forming in his eyes. He quickly wiped them away and walked forward to keep in the line. Then a thought struck me. “What about Aunt Katherine?” I asked, pulling Father’s coat. Father sighed. “She wasn’t allowed since she was too old,” he answered, putting his hands in his pockets. He then handed our tickets to the lady with a fixed smile as though she had training to smile and walked to the plane.
There were individual bunkers with a bed for each two people, and me and Donniele were staying in one seperate one whilst Mother and Father were staying in another. A kind-looking flight attendant handed me and Donniele some candy and let us pass without any further problems. “K53 is your seat, Donniele and Lilianne,” said Mother, pointing to a cozy and cute looking bunker a few bunkers away. I grabbed Mr. Snuggles and Donniele grabbed Ms. Sparkle. “Here,” said Father, handing a medium sized bag in my hands, “take very good care of it.” I nodded enthusiastically. We walked to our bunker and it looked extremely cozy up close. It was just a little bigger than me and Donniele combined, and a warm yellow light reflected the radiance of the sun. Me and Donniele climbed up the ladder to the bunker and collapsed on the bed. Each bunker was like a small room, this one was especially for children.
There was a chandelier that had twinkling stars and it seemed to be the glowing types, and there were pink laced curtains to reveal a beautiful view of the ground below. There was a medium sized room with everything from food to plushies and below it was a fluffy, white carpet with a pink zebra pattern. The smell of sweet strawberries and honey with a tint of cinnamon filled the room. “I like this bunker!” exclaimed Donniele. “Yeah, even though we’re turning nine soon, this is like heaven,” I agreed. I dug in the pockets of my pants for my walkie-talkie that Mother and Father told me and Donniele to use if we ever wanted to talk to them. I immediately called out Mother’s name and a little static followed. “Hello Donniele!” exclaimed Mother, “do you need anything?” “I don’t Mother, I just wanted to talk to you and make sure you’re ok,” I replied, sitting on one of the cotton candy-shaped beanbags while Donniele finished changing. “I’m quite fine, Lilianne,” said Mother, “I need to do something now, I’ll talk to you later!” The walkie-talkie went silent and I put it on the table near me. “Donniele?” I called out. It was taking quite some time for her to change. “COME HERE, LILIANNE!” she shouted back. I immediately came inside the changing room and couldn’t believe what I saw.
