The True Way Of Learning

The teacher was teaching trigonometry in the class and he gave all the formulated relating to the chapter and explained them by a single diagram of a triangle. When the class ended, four boys started discussing is the practical application of the concept. One student who has less interest in the subject of Mathematics argued that if they do not have any practical use of the concept in real life then what is the need of studying this. The other students failed to answer his question and decided to go to the teacher to clarify their doubts. Now when they enquired the teacher about it, he asked the boys to meet him at the playground after the school gets dismissed. The boys did the same as recommended by their Maths teacher. The teacher asked one of the boys, who are good at climbing asked to climb the tree with a rope.

The teacher then asked him to tie one side of the rope with the top branch of the tree and throw the other end downwards. Then he tied the other end with a hook on the ground. Now, he told the children to measure the height of the tree, provided that the length of the rope is 5metres and the distance between the tree and the hook is 3 meters. He further told that the angle between the rope and the ground is 60 degrees. Now he asked them to calculate the answer without climbing the tree and without using the Pythagoras theorem. He suggested the students recall what they has been taught in the class today. The students understood the real applications of trigonometry and thus their concept became crystal clear. The teacher finally concluded that we should always learn what is the use of any concept practically so that we don't have any doubts in our minds. At the last, he praised the boy's efforts to learn and recommended they never mug up anything in their lives.
