The Thunderstorm
The Thunderstorm
This story is about a high school student named Yogesh who lived in Hyderabad. He studied in class 9 in Don Bosco school.
It was a Tuesday morning. The sky was full of dark clouds alarming a sudden downfall of heavy rains. The online classes were to start at 9 am. It was already 8 am. Yogesh put on his mask and went out to bring milk and some groceries. He took his cycle and just remembered that he forgot to bring his raincoat, after going about 500 meters. He decided to quickly get the things required and return home before rains start.
He collected the items required for the store and started his return journey. Just then the rains started and within seconds there was heavy rainfall. Yogesh stopped and took shelter in a building where some other people were also sheltering. There was continuous rainfall. It looked as if the rains would not stop that day. Suddenly the water started flowing in the streets. After around an hour, the rains subsided and Yogesh knew that this was the time to return. However, he could not paddle home as there was water logging everywhere. He decided to walk home. He slowly started moving to see the commotion around. The skies were thundering as if warning that if you do not get back soon then you will have to wait further.
Yogesh was seeing the water flowing through the streets. Suddenly his eyes caught the sight of a month old puppy drowning in the water. He rushed to help. He took the puppy and kept it in the container box fitted in the front of his bicycle. He decided to take it to his home as otherwise the puppy would die in these conditions. Finally, he reached home and was greeted by anxious parents who were worried about him for obvious reasons. He told his parents everything that took place and also about the puppy who was meek and silent. He, however, got permission to keep the puppy at home.
Yogesh was a single kid of his parents with no brothers or sisters. Now he got a new friend and decided to name it Tommy. He gave Tommy some milk and biscuits and a warm blanket. There was no electricity and the water had begun to enter his garden. There was commotion all around.
The rains continued all day and night. There was water all around.NDRF, army, and Disaster Response Force(DRF) were called for rescue operations. People trapped in flood houses were being rescued and shifted to safe places through boats. Many people had lost their lives.
Back in the house of Yogesh, Tommy had begun to adjust to his new surroundings and begun to play with his new friend. He was adapting well and Yogesh's parents were also loving him very much. Yogesh was also happy to find Tommy. He waited for the situation to normalize so that he could introduce Tommy to his friends and prayed to Lord for all those who were worst affected by this thunderstorm.
