The Thinking of a Tribal Boy before going to Mars

Synopsis (word limit: 30 words):  T0-e-cado a tribal boy, who is going to land on Mars. Before going to Mars he was not able to face his fear. Anybody can give solution to his problem?

T0-e-cado is a 15 year old boy who is the leader of the Jarawa tribal group. He is a smart, intelligent and a brave warrior.

2. Dr. Vikram

He is an ISRO officer. He holds an important post of selecting a person who is going to land on Mars

3. Dr. Raj

Dr. Raj is a retired officer who has been working many years for selection of crew members for all the missions of ISRO.

4. Saint

In a forest. T0-e-cado will see a saint who will give solution to his fear and problem.

5. Lion&Deer

A strong and brave lion will follow deer in the forest. It is the king of the huge forest. A small and a cute deer, called Dale will not respect the lion

6. Ba-s-ki

He is To-e-cado’s friend who will act as a motive for To-e-cado’s journey

 

 

 

                           SCENE-1Narrator:

The Andamanese are the various indigenous peoples of the Andaman Islands, part of India's Islands union. This tribe is divided into five major tribal groups. They are the Great Andamanese and Jarawa of the Great Andaman archipelago, the Jangil of Rutland Island, the Onge of Little Andaman, and the Sentinelese of North Sentinel Island. At the end of the 18th century, the tribal people became contact with outsiders so that, in the next century, they were largely wiped out by diseases, violence, and loss of territory. Today, only roughly 400–450 Andamanese remain, with the Jangil being extinct.

This is To-e-cado, a 15 year old boy chosen as the leader of the Jarawa group of Andamanese tribe. He is a very smart intelligent and brave warrior. One day To-e-cado wakes up to the sound of his friend’s voice in his dream. Then he quickly take a bath in the river and then he went to see his friend, his name is Ba-s-ki. After 20 minutes, To-e-cado saw his friend standing near a big tree with spears and harpoons.

Ba-s-ki:  I have a doubt, I am also smart and brave like you but why did the people of this tribe select you as the leader?

To-e-cado: Yes, you are smart and brave as me. They didn’t choose you as the leader of Jarawa group because you didn’t respect the elders of that group whereas I obeyed the words of all people.

Ba-s-ki: Now I understood my fault. Here after I will also start to obey others. I am still proud because my friend is the leader of my group. If I become a leader I would make our tribal group so great that we are etched in the minds of the people.

Narrator:  Suddenly, To-e-cado’s stomach made a sound.

To-e-cado:  I think I’m hungry!

Ba-s-ki:  Ha ha, Don’t worry. Take your spears and harpoons; we are going to hunt some animals in the mountain for our food.

To-e-cado:  Why specifically the mountains to hunt animals?

Ba-s-ki:  There are many deer living on the mountains.

Narrator:  To-e-cado also takes his spears and harpoons and they both went to the mountain to hunt. They hunt and acquire enough and return back to their home. Suddenly a lion jumped from the bush behind him and bit Ba-s-ki’s neck. To-e-cado threw his spear at the lion. That spear tears lion’s body and the lion flees.  But it was too late. Ba-s-ki was severely injured.

Ba-s-ki: I didn’t show respect to any one but you were different. You were chosen as the leader for a reason. My last desire is that you do a historical thing that should make the whole world to be proud of our tribe.

Narrator: After a few seconds, Ba-s-ki died. After burying him, he is very sad that he can’t able to see his friend again and made a promise to himself to make his friend’s words true.

                     Scene 2

Narrator:  The Indian government announced a new mission to ISRO. The name of the mission is landing tribal Indians on Mars. The chairman of the mission is Ram. Ram was chosen as the chairman of the mission because he has the right qualities of leadership and his smart and kind words can even do an impossible mission. Ram: This mission is different from other missions of ISRO. He said, ‘In this mission ISRO has a big task of educating tribal people and on preparing them to land on Mars’. The reason why we chose a tribal man to land on Mars is to reduce the tribal discrimination and to prove that they can also do a great thing. Narrator: After selecting leaders for parts of the mission. The important post of selecting the person who is going to land on Mars is given to Dr. Vikram. Ram: We chose Dr. Vikram as the leader for this important post because he ranks first in the study of humans and zoology in India. Dr. Vikram: I am new to this mission, how can I do it perfectly?

Ram: Select a person who is not only fit physically but also strong mentally.

Narrator:   After taking this opinion into his mind he went to search tribal people in almost all parts of India. Dr. Vikram went to search that tribal man in northern parts of India. He saw many tribal men who failed in the tests. After this he went back to his home. In that night he had a dream. This dream represents an event happened before 6 months. In that period, he went to the southern Andaman Islands with his family.

Dr. Vikram: This place is very beautiful place with a big water tank with many green trees, shrubs, climbers, herbs, various kinds of birds and animals. Narrator:  At that moment, a fire catches in the nearby tent. All the tourists screamed and started to run to get out of the tents. Soon the fire spreads wide and wide. It soon spreads in the other trees.

To-e-cado saw this tree and he quickly dipped the big cotton bed sheets in water. The cotton fabric absorbs the water instantly and with his full force, he threw the bed sheets. Some on the tree and some on the tents. The fire was put off. All the tourists saw him like a hero. Dr. Vikram wakes up from his sleep and…Dr. Vikram: “Why can’t I select the tribal man who saved me in Andaman”. Narrator:   Next day he went to Andaman by airplane. The plane landed in the southern Andaman Islands. He went inside a forest to see the tribal man.

He saw the tribal people ready to fight with him with spears and harpoons. He explained that they didn’t come to harm the tribal people in their own language. We are coming from ISRO, we want to see your leader. To-e-cado hears this, and came in front of them. Dr. Vikram recognized him, but he doesn’t know his name.

Dr. Vikram:  What is your name?To-e-cado: My name is To-e-cadoDr. Vikram:  I am happy to see you again. To-e-cado:  Why did you come here?

Dr. Vikram: I am coming from INDIAN SPACE RESEARCH ORGANIZATION. I came here to select you as the tribal man to land on Mars. It is a historical thing; If you do this the whole world will see your tribe.

To-e-cado:  What is this?Dr. Vikram: If you come with me, I will answer all your questions. Narrator:  The word historical thing starts to ring in To-e-cado’s ears. Soon his friend’s last words came to his mind. Then he understands that this mission is a historical thing and agreed to him. Dr. Vikram made all the tests there. To-e-cado passed in all the tests. To-e-cado is happy but he is also sad because he is going far away from his island.

SCENE-3

Narrator:  They took him to the ISRO office. They first started to teach him English, some mathematics and science for 3 years. He passed in the final test for those three subjects. After teaching him English, he even wrote his first speech on Mars. One day, during the training, Dr. Ram (chairman of the mission) starts to explain about the vehicle in which he is going to Mars. To-e-cado is very curious to know about rocket. So he starts to ask many questions.

To-e-cado: What are rockets?Dr.

Ram: Rockets are the vehicles which will carry us to space. It will fly from our earth and it will land you in Mars. It will fly by the Newton’s third law. ” Every action has an equal opposite reaction”. A rocket will pump a set of hot gas that will give a force to the ground. The ground will also give same amount of force to the rocket so the rocket will fly.

To-e-cado:  What is present inside the rocket? Dr. Ram: In the top of the rocket there is payload in which you will sit and there is all the things that would make you comfortable. Next below it there is guidance system. In that system there is the cooler system, rocket direction changing system, it is the control room for the propulsion system and there is the sender from that only we can get information about the rocket during in its flight. Below it there is the propulsion system. In that propulsion system there is the rocket engines which will produce hot gas.

To-e-cado: How does a solid-fueled rocket engine will work?Dr. Ram: Already I told that all the chemical rocket engines will work by combustion. In this solid fueled rocket engine have a solid fuel and a solid oxidizer. To-e-cado asked some example for this solid fueled rocket. Dr. Ram said the best example for a solid fueled rocket is charcoal and ammonium chlorate. (Chemical powder)Charcoal is the fuel and amonium chlorate is the oxidizer which will produce oxygen.

Narrator: The lunch bell rang. Dr. Ram: That’s all over for today, eat your lunch and take rest. Next day, Dr. Vikram will take you to the anti gravitational room and he will tell what you have to do when you land on Mars. Narrator: To-e-cado thanked Dr. Ram and he left the room. He went to canteen to take lunch. Next day, he went to the anti gravitational room with Dr. Vikram.

When he went inside that room, he starts to fly. To-e-cado:  Wow, I am flying. It is like a dream. Dr. Vikram:  Now your class starts, first remember a thing when you landed on Mars, you can’t able to run or walk on the surface as on earth. If you want to move you have to jump. Now practice jumping here. Narrator:  To-e-cado perfectly jumped from one place to another place.

Dr. Vikram:  Next thing is you have to hoist our national flag on the soil. After that you have to test the soil on the Mars. The test will show the percentage of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Now test the soil given here.

Narrator:  Dr. Vikram helped when To-e-cado made mistakes.

Dr. Vikram:  A plant needs enough amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium to grow healthy. If the soil does not have these ingredients, pour some of the fertilizer which will have these nutrients. After that plant a seed on the soil.

Narrator:  The test shows that the soil does not have enough amounts of nutrients. So he pours some fertilizer. He planted a seed and watered it.

Dr. Vikram:  Next thing you have to do is the air test. This test will show the amount of Oxygen present inside the air and you have to tell the result to us by using the sender in the rocket. If you want water take the ice rocks on the soil and heat it to get water. Make your tent on the surface and don’t forget to take your oxygen tank from the rocket. Narrator:  After taking Dr. Vikram’s words into his mind, he starts to practice the tests everyday in that room and finally did all the tests perfectly.

Scene-4

Narrator: He returned to his native place (Andaman) before one week from the day of launch. To-e-cado is happy, that he is the first tribal man who is going to land on Mars. He is also sad because it is a one way trip to Mars that he won’t be able to return to earth. He also saw sadness and happiness in his parents’ face. The days went as fast as water drops rolling on the duck’s back. It was a day before the launch so he went to the launching site. That night he wasn’t able to sleep. He went outside to see the launching area. He saw forest near by the launching area. He went inside the forest where he saw a lion following a deer. Just when the lion was about to pounce on the deer, two heavy clouds hit each other. As a result the thunder came it hits the lion and the lion died in a fraction of second. He saw a saint walking near the trees.

To-e-cado : (Scared) I am To-e-cado, Tomorrow I am going to Mars by this rocket. I am so afraid that I can’t able to see my mother earth again, my parents and forest. I won’t be able to fulfill their wishes. .

Saint: But you are going to fulfill your friend’s wish.

To-e-cado: How do you know my life story?

Saint: Ha ha! There is a reason why I am called a saint by everyone.

To-e-cado: Please give solution to my problem.

Saint: Now you saw the lion died in a fraction of second. All the lives created by god are not secured.  God can take our lives even now. The true side of the life is how long you are going to live in other people’s mind.

To-e-cado:  I can’t understand.

Saint: If anybody does a historical thing, they will start to live in other peoples mind as information or as a role model. This is the true side of the life. As a saint I know this, but all people like you don’t know about this. So go in your way, make the world turn to see you.

Scene -5

Narrator: After hearing the saint’s word, he got a hope and he went to sleep. He slept well. He woke up at 6o’clock. He first prayed to his god to protect his Jarawa tribal group and his friends. He did his all the chores very neatly and slowly because it is the last day on the earth. Here after he will do all his chores in Mars only. He finished his chores carefully and finally lied on his bed. He dragged his tiny jewellery box out of the bed. In that jewellery box, he kept his famous treasures. He opened that jewellery box, he saw that drawings of their tribal children given in praise of him because he saved their lives from danger. Next he saw his friend B-a-ski’s drawing. Soon his last words came to his mind. He hanged that drawing in his chain and soon his face turned happy. He also saw his parent’s small things which changed his mind to think about his parents. He remembered an event happened in his child hood. It is nice a day with many clouds on the sky. He woke up with the smell of the food. He jumped from a big tree to see his parents. He saw his father helping his neighbor and he also saw his mother cooking food for his neighbor. He came near his mother and asked

To-e-cado:  Why are you helping our neighbor?

To-e-cado’s mom: If we help others they will also help us in some way.

Narrator: From that second he started to help his people by any possible means. Suddenly, he heard the knocking sound of the door. He quickly closed the box and kept it inside his pocket. He jumped from the bed, opened the door. He saw Dr. Vikram and Dr. Ram standing in front of the door.

Dr. Vikram and Dr. Ram:  There is a surprise for you.

Narrator:  To-e-cado was shocked, they went outside where To-e-cado saw his tribal group standing in front of him and cheering him.

Narrator: To-e-cado got so much excited to see his parents, his people that he hugged them all, he asked his mother how all of them came here from our island.

To-e-cado’s mom: I told you if we help someone they will also help us. I and your father didn’t insist all of them to come here. They all came here because you only helped them.

Narrator: After telling their group prayer. To-e-cado went inside the elevator to go to the payload. At last he sat comfortably inside the payload. The countdown started and the rocket started to ignite. The rocket successfully lifted off, after a few minutes it crossed the earth’s atmosphere. To-e-cado heard the voice of Dr. Vikram from the sender room.

Dr. Vikram:  We lost the signal of the guidance system we called you to inform that a huge meteoroid is coming in your path so please switch on the rocket’s direction changing system.

Narrator: Quickly he thought the words of Dr. Ram he said that the guidance system is present below the payload.

To-e-cado: “How can I go to the guidance system?”

Narrator:  Soon an idea flashes in To-e-cado’s mind that his father gave him a small and a strong knife for his safety before going to ISRO office for his safety. He cut the iron grid on which he is standing and jumped inside the guidance system and turned on the rocket direction changing system. So the meteoroid didn’t hit the rocket. Finally he landed on Mars and made the whole world to be proud of him. He finally finished Ba-s-ki’s last desire. After landing on Mars, he does all the things as per Dr. Vikram’s words. He survived for two months. AFTER THAT HE STARTED TO LIVE ON OTHER PERSON’S MIND.
