The Perplex

Chapter - 1 Happy Family

It was July at the time. Together with his children Jim and Henry, Dave was watching the soccer competition. They were ecstatic. They were all enthralled and watching the competition. Dave asked his wife Isabella for some munchies. When Isabella observed Dave acting like a child, she started to giggle and gave him the snack. Dave and the children cried "Goal!" at once. Isabella became concerned about what had happened to them but quickly understood it was just another objective. The entire Craden family was very content and had no difficulties in any way.

All of them got up the following morning hoping for a happy day. Dave and his wife started getting ready for work. Both of them were employed by T.E.R.S.A. Labs, which was a group of outstanding scientists working on inventions that could revolutionize the entire planet. Dave, Isabella said. Can you drop the kids off at the school today? I have certain paperwork that needs to be submitted by today. Dave responded with a smile, and years later he finally had the chance to drop the children. To eat their breakfast, Isabella and the boys proceeded to the living room. Jim and Henry weren't pleased that their mother had made fruit salad for breakfast today. Henry chuckled as he exclaimed, "Mom! We're sick of eating fruit salad, Jim answered, nodding his head in agreement with Henry's statement. Boys, you agreed to eat well for a week so that you guys can get your "Super Blaster Toy," stated Isabella. It is a Super Sonic Energy Blaster, and it will allow me to battle all the bad, Jim retorted in a deeper voice. “Ya! Whatever!” Isabella responded. 

Dave slowed down to consume the breakfast. He was staring at some papers, thinking about something essential in his fantasies. Are you okay, big guy? Isabella worriedly asked Dave. Dave didn't answer, which irritated Isabella. Keeping her hand on Dave's shoulder, she enquired, "Is everything alright?" Dave quickly made a facial expression of astonishment. Everything is fine, love, I was just making some quick calculations on the reports. Let's just eat now and go directly to the office, then. Despite not being happy with the answer, Isabella accepted it and reasoned that Dave was simply too busy to fix it. Dave asked the children if they wanted to visit the freshly opened new park in the neighbourhood. After his dad inquired and exclaimed with pleasure, "YES! DAD!" Henry and Jim went berserk. After eating breakfast, the Craden family was prepared to send their children to school.

 Given that it was their first successful day, the boys ran for the car. As they prepared to drive to the school, Dave and the children sat in the car. Isabella thought Dave seemed a little untrustworthy. Are you truly okay, Dave? Isabella questioned as she approached him. Are you experiencing anything that I should know about? Dave responded, "Everything is OK honey, No need to worry!" with a smile. By the way, when will you be at the office? I have some housework to do but don't worry, I'll be there until noon, added Isabella. Don't you guys do anything dumb in the school, Isabella yelled as she banged on the rear seat window where the children were sitting. I got a call from Miss Patricia yesterday that you guys spilt colours in the washroom” The boys started speaking together explaining themselves which lead to a nuisance. Isabella exclaimed “OKAY FINE! Just don’t do anything stupid”.

Dave asked the boys in a casual voice of number "Are you guys ready for adventure?", the boys exclaimed, "Yes! Captain!". Dave drives while Jim and Henry greet their mother. After a while Jim and Henry started discussing something in the back of the car and Dave was driving which led to a conflict between them. Henry asked, "Dad, do you love me more or do you love Jim?" Jim confidently replied "SURE!" He loves me more. That's a stupid question to ask Hen! Dave smiled and replied, "I love both of you equally." "Okay dad, so tell me when is Jim's birthday?" Henry asked his father and learned that his father is not good at remembering birthdays. "Ahh…. I know but I can't remember. Can you give me a hint? Henry said "It's September". Dave still didn't have an answer and he guessed "I know, that's it." is September 13." Both of them shouted "FALSE!". "Okay, so it's the 15th?" Dave is still clueless. Jim got a little annoyed and said "Its is September 29, Dad!" You weren't even close. I know you'll know about Henri's birthday because it's your favourite! ". "Wow!

 Wow! Rub! I know it, but that means it makes you different. Henry was surprised that his dad knew his birthday and was a bit confident and asked "So when is my birthday," Dave said confidently "I know it's November 4th". Jim was laughing so hard and he couldn't contain his laughter when Henry became upset. "Not true? How is that possible?" Dave is unsure and says. Henry said with an angry expression, "It is October 14th!" How do you not know? "Dave said calmly," Okay guys, I don't know your birthdays but I give you presents every year and we had a great party. Do not you remember? Either way, it's not about birthdays, it's about love. "Jim and Henry were convinced but a little annoyed. They both got off the bus on their way to school. "You want to say goodbye to your father?" Dave asked the boys. "Goodbye dad...!" Both said in a sad voice and entered the school. Dave then smiled and walked towards the office.

Chapter - 2 T.E.R.S.A Labs

It was 10 a.m. and Dave was at the office as usual. Dave stopped in front of a giant building with T.E.R.S.A. written above. He was in a hurry, he threw the key to the valet and said "In the basement parking number 24 parking lot". The servant smiled and nodded. Dave was speeding towards someone. Receptionist Christine asks, "Professor Scosfreed is waiting for you in his office." Dave replied, “I know! I say!". He entered the elevator, repeatedly pressing the buttons to get there quickly. A cleaner was also inside the elevator, he said, "Pressing that many times won't make the elevator fast." Dave was very stressed and said, "You know when you have to take your kids to school and you have to catch up with an important meeting, those little things help you". The cleaner didn't understand anything and showed interest. Dave hit the floor and headed straight for Scosfreed's office. As soon as he walked in, he said, “I know I should have come here a lot earlier, but what you did is change the world. He's an amazing discovery guy! "Professor Scosfreed replied: "The device is currently under development, so let's just focus on making it much better, shall we?" They both got very excited and went to the lab. "When did you think about doing that?" Dave asked Scosfreed. "It was just another idea that popped into my head. I took a lot of money but I still made it in the end,” Scosfreed said. “I looked at the papers for the project literally paralyzing me,” says Dave.

They entered the very large laboratory. Dozens of scientists have come together to study this device. The device is housed in a glass block. It looks like a watch that glows blue in the centre. Scossfreed said, “So let me introduce you to The Perplex. It's a device that helps you move through different realities. Dave was surprised to see The Perplex. "You just wear it like a watch, think about the reality you want to step into. For example, if you want dinosaurs and spaceships, it will bring you to the reality that it has both. You will only stay in the other reality for 16 hours and then you will be back in the real world but that is a change in the other reality you will be there for 16 hours but will only have 2 minutes towards this reality. All these realities do exist, you could also call it a multi-dimensional journey. As it is still in development, we will have very little testing,” added Professor Scosfreed. Dave asked, "So when are you going to test this device?". Scosfreed replied with a smile, "Fortunately, Mr Craden, we'll have the test right now. We've selected a human for our first test, so get ready everyone. !" Dave hesitantly asked "Is it okay to test it on humans because there could be consequences." "No need to worry Mr Craden I took the test myself," said Professor Scosfreed, winking at Dave.

 People began to prepare for the first tests of The Perplex. One of the scientists gently took The Perplex out of the glass case. The scientist linked the Confused with this topic. The scientist sent the subject inside a room made of glass. Professor Scosfreed moves to the microphone to communicate with the subject and says "No need to worry, sir...?" "What is his name?" Scosfreed asked the scientist gently. The scientist said "Lan Buckley sir". "So Mr Buckley, you don't have to worry, just keep breathing, it's perfectly safe," Scosfreed said. Lan was very scared and his pulse was very high. “Relax and think about the world in which you want to go and live your life. After thinking about it, just press the button while repeating it in your mind,” said Professor Scosfreed confidently. Lan was very hesitant and asked, "Is it safe?". Mr Scosfreed said: “It's completely safe Lan, you just have to trust us. Lan closed his eyes and started imagining. After a few seconds, he pressed the button on the watch which created a big black-blue hole which swallowed Lan. Dave was surprised that Lan had disappeared. "The tracking device got lost in another dimension, sir," one of the scientists said. All the scientists were working on computers and distraught Dave. Dave asked Professor Scossfreed “Will he come back? ". Scosfreed just looked into the glass room and didn't answer. "Will you answer me man? DO YOU WANT TO REPRESENTATE…” Suddenly there was an explosion in the glass room of the room which shattered the room and the glass scattered everywhere. There was smoke in the room, no one could see anything. A man came out of the smoke and everyone was staring at the man. 

 It was Lan back, everyone started cheering and Lan was fine with no harm. The scientist took Lan to check inside. "Our first attempt was a success and to celebrate I'm having a party tonight at the T.E.R.S.A. lab. Scosfreed said and everyone clapped and hugged Dave. Dave was so happy and excited to see him. told her children and this Isabella Scosfreed came up to Dave and said, "I have a request from you Mr. Craden, you shouldn't say anything about what's going on here today, even to Dr. Isabella.” Dave was confused and asked, “But why? ". Scosfreed replied, 'I just don't want anyone to reveal it to a lot of people because it's still in development, so please don't reveal it.. I will tell everyone at the party today and the mayor will be coming today as well.” Dave said "Okay, fine! And by the way, congratulations again". Dave goes back to his office where he sees Isabella and she asks "Where have you been all this time?" "Okay, whatever, I'll be back in my lab if you want anything just call," Isabella said. Then she was on her way to her lab when suddenly Dave shouted "Isa!". She turned around and said "WHAT?". "We're not going to the park today, we have a party to attend," Dave said with a laugh.

CHAPTER - 3 The Fall

It was already 8 pm and the whole Craden family was getting ready for The Perplex's hit party. Dave asked Isabella in a French accent, "Are you ready, ma'am?" Isabella laughed and said, "Why not, sir?" When she left, she saw that the children had finished with their clothes and shoes, they were sitting in front of the television and waiting for their parents to come down."If I had told you to be ready when it was your school, you would have been asleep," Isabella said. Henry replied, "Mom! A party is nothing like school, you don't eat well at school". "And Mama's school is in the morning so we sleep," Jim replied from behind Henry. Dave came down and said, 'Yes, Isa! The boys are right this time." "Obviously I can't understand you three at all," Isabella laughed. The family closed the doors and got in the car. "Everybody in?" said Dave. Jim and Henry said "YES!" in . "Here we go!" said Dave

Everyone knelt in front of T.E.R.S.A. Labs, and Dave tossed the keys to the valet. He was about to say something when valet interrupted, "I know, in the basement parking number 24." "Yeah man!" exclaimed Dave. The Craden family entered the building, which was beautifully decorated with various types of flowers and lights. Jim and Henry's mouths dropped open as if they'd never seen anything like this before. "Wait a minute!" "What's the deal with the party?" Isabella inquired. "Oh, it's just a surprise Scosfreed wants to share." He created a device... I'm not sure about it. "He said he'll announce it at midnight," Dave said hesitantly. Isabella expressed her displeasure. "He didn't tell us anything about it." "That's why it's a surprise!" Dave exclaimed.

2 hours had passed, and it was almost midnight. Scosfreed approached Dave and said, "The Mayor is here, I told him about you, and now he wants to know about you!" Want to meet him?" "HE WANTS TO MEET ME?!?" exclaimed Dave. "Yes, Mr. Craden," Scosfreed said. "Hi Professor Scosfreed, it's been a long time we haven't met even though we work in the same place,". "Yeah, I was working on the device," Scosfreed explained. "I'm going to take the kids home because they're tired, but I'll be back to see "THE GREAT DEVICE REVEAL," Isabella told Dave. "Isn't it wonderful that the Mayor wants to meet with me?" Dave stated. "That's fantastic, you meet The Mayor and let me drop the kids off, Bye!" Isabella exclaimed. Dave went to see the Mayor, while Isabella dropped the kids off at home.

"So, Dave Craden?" the Mayor inquired. "It's a pleasure to meet you, sir," Dave replied. "I've heard good things about you from Scosfreed, and I know you've done a lot for this company." Meanwhile, Scosfreed rose to the stage and took the microphone, saying, "So everybody cheers for tonight, I owe everyone's pleasure, especially The Mayor who came here for this success party." "Many of you still don't know what success we're celebrating today," Scosfreed continued, "so without further ado, LET ME INTRODUCE TO THE PERPLEX!" When they saw The Perplex, everyone began clapping. It was now even brighter. With a glass of wine in his hand, the Mayor exclaimed, "CAN YOU TELL WHAT IT EVEN DO?". "It helps you to travel to the other dimension or you may even call it the multiverse as told in the movies, It will take you there for 13 hours but time works differently so for the other place it would be 13 hours but in the real world it would only be 2 min," Scosfreed replied. It will transport me to another location where I am the Mayor, and you will be in my place." Everyone began to laugh. The Mayor didn't like the joke, but he was okay with it. Scosfreed continued, "At the moment, it is still in the testing phase, but after 6 months, it will be completely usable, . We'll give it to the US government so we can learn more about other universes."

Scosfreed solicited inquiries from the media. Is it safe to use? inquired one of the people to Scosfreed. Does it possess the capability to end the world? Everybody laughed. "That's a wonderful question, we've done the testing, and it was successful, therefore we're holding this success plus celebration party," Scosfreed grinned in response. Any other queries? As more questions started to come in, Scosfreed got busy responding to them. Dave is merely giggling while sipping wine and watching Scosfreed. He picks up the phone when a call comes in and says, "Dave Craden! Who's that? "Mr. Craden, we are phoning from Sunshine Hospital, we have found the bodies of your wife Isabella Craden and your children Jim Craden and Henry Craden," the other person replies, adding. About 15 minutes earlier, they encountered each other in a car accident next to a park. Please proceed to the hospital. Dave's heart broke, he became numb, and he struggled to accept what had happened. He sobbed and sat down on the ground, realising that he should have gone with them after all.

 

CHAPTER - 4 Vengeance 

Six months have passed since Isabella, Jim, and Henry died. Dave has turned into an alcoholic in an effort to get by. In order to pay his bills, he had grown a beard, quit his job at T.E.R.S.A. Labs, and started working in a tiny shop. He didn't even interact with his neighbours. He merely desired to see his family again at all costs. Despite Scosfreed's repeated requests, he never returned his calls or messages. He always missed his family when he went into his home, and he would do anything to have them back. He sobbed inconsolably in the corner, believing it was ultimately his fault for leaving his family behind in the car.

He was watching soccer on TV one day while seated on his couch with a bottle of beer and glass. After pouring the beer into the glass, he quickly realised the ice was missing. He then moved in the direction of the kitchen's refrigerator. He observed a man in a black coat as soon as he arrived, albeit his face was hidden. Who are you? he inquired as he picked up the baseball bat. What do you desire? Perhaps you know me very well, the man retorted. It was none other than Professor Scosfreed who entered the light. “Oh! Professor, I've made it clear to you numerous times that I don't want to return, and by the way, how did you enter the home? Dave stated in an amusing voice."I was always behind you when you entered the house," Scosfreed retorted. Dave gave him a startling glance. Perhaps I assumed you were caught up in your own fantasies, Scosfreed continued. On a mission, I need your assistance. Dave yelled, "NO! I don't want to repeat it. It's something connected to The Perplex, Scosfreed stated. Dave exclaimed, "WHAT PERPLEX?!" You neglected the Perplex, which facilitates your acrobatic travel. "ACROSS THE MULTIVERSE, I KNOW IT!" Dave interjected. THEN WHAT?" Scosfreed stated, "I have several improvements that I need to test. You know what I think you should leave RIGHT NOW, Dave growled. "I know the pain you experience son," Scosfreed added. "You know nothing," exclaimed Dave. Scosfreed went outside, leaving Dave perplexed.

Dave began to reflect on The Perplex frequently. The concept of The Perplex kind of slipped Dave's mind. As though he had nothing else to do, he began researching it. He missed his shift at the store and moved into his home instead. He looked everywhere—on the internet, in newspapers, and in old files—and discovered that The Perplex was later abandoned because it caused the death of a worker at the U.S. government's research department. The T.E.R.S.A. Labs suffered enormous losses as a result of the U.S. government's ban on The Perplex use and development. The Perplex is currently stored at the T.E.R.S.A. Labs' hidden chamber. Only key government officials and workers of the corporation are aware of it. Dave believed that if he obtained The Perplex, he would be able to return to his family but in a different world. He wasn't ready to do this, but he believed he would be forced to confront them regardless. He was hesitant since it could possibly lead to his demise. In addition, Dave wonders why Scosfreed has a plan for The Perplex if it has been secured.

Rick Hudson, an old friend of Dave's and a coworker, answered the phone. “Hey! Dave said, "Rick, it's your old friend." "Umm.. Dave who?" Rick asked in response. "You missed me? I'm Dave Craden, and we were coworkers about six months ago, Dave remarked. Rick laughed and retorted, "OH! DAVE! Long time no see, man. You haven't been around for like months. Sorry I didn't recognise you right away. Dave stifled a laugh and exclaimed, "Yeah guy! Actually, I could need a little favour.Do you know where The Perplex was kept? Why, guy, do you want to know? Rick developed a suspicion. I was the first one to see it being built, so I wasn't being malicious; no problem, it's great, replied Dave. "I have no knowledge of it whatsoever. A small group of military personnel showed up one day, and they just hid it. Okay, guy. I have to leave because I have a meeting in two minutes. Why don't we get together someday and just chat about life? asked Rick. Although Dave was quite disappointed, he didn't want me to tell Rick about it, so he said, "Ok, guy! Let's catch up someday, bye.Dave was considering who he should call right now when he received a notification. It was an email with a private email address. It read, "MEET ME AT 2100 BELOW THE T.E.R.S.A. LABS TOWER."

Dave arrived at the building at the precise moment, but he wasn't sure who had sent him the letter. A man suddenly appeared in front of Dave and threw a file to the ground. Dave said, "Excuse me, sir!" to the man. You dropped something," the man said, but made no further comment before leaving the area. The file, which Dave picked up off the ground, contained a schematic for a room beneath T.E.R.S.A. Labs. Once awake, Dave entered a cafe to investigate it. He took a seat in the corner and opened the file to see a letter that read: “ Dear Dave, Here is the blueprint of the secret chamber in which The Perplex is stored. There is only one entrance and one exit but if you look carefully there is an underground passage to reach the place. If you go behind the building you will see a garbage can, its beside it. There is very high security and it needs a fingerprint password, I am providing you with the fingerprint you need and don’t ask whose fingerprints is it. Don’t worry the security cameras are jammed by me. After that there is a retinal scan, As you soon as you reach it I want to to press the button which I am giving you, it will disable the security for 10 seconds but after 10 seconds the alarm will go off. Now you must be thinking if the alarm would go off then how would you escape. In these 10 seconds you have to take The Perplex and just go inside the passage from where you came, See as simple as that. You must be thinking that why I am helping you in any way but by helping you I am also helping myself. This Perplex destroyed my whole life which fired me from my job and made me go nuts. I don’t care whatever you do with it but just take it far away from me. Good luck old friend. Regards RH”. As the likelihood of being discovered increased, Dave started to feel afraid and started to wonder what would happen if he failed.

CHAPTER 5 - Run For Life

Since Dave learned the location of The Perplex, a month had passed. He was simply watching for the right opportunity to enter while simultaneously practising for the breakthrough. Dave thoroughly examined the schematics and practised overcoming every challenge he would encounter when stealing The Perplex. After receiving one more file with all the images of every area of the chamber that would aid Dave in completing his task, he once more received a letter that states: “Dear Dave, it been a months since I gave you the letter and I know you are just waiting for the perfect moment to enter. I got a chance to enter the chamber a few days ago which let me click the pictures. It contains pictures of everything that is in that room. You have to do it on 10th February which you have 5 more days. On the day is the party for the new CEO of the company.The party would start at 2000 . I think this would be the best time as everyone would be busy at the party You just need to be more careful.Best of the luck and I hope this is my last letter regarding the breakthrough. Regards RH.”

Dave had just five days to prepare for his mission. Using the images as a guide, he attempted to create a comparable chamber in his basement. He constantly rehearsed, worked out, and studied the designs since he didn't want to make a mistake. He had never done anything similar before. He purchased a pistol solely for emergency purposes. In his backyard, he began practising shooting targets. He didn't properly install the suppressor on the firearm, which led to a loud voice that frightened his neighbours. Dave proceeded about his residence as if nothing had happened, but one individual knocked on his door and said, "Hey Dave! I heard what sounded like a gunshot. Do you have any information on this?" The man was terrified by Dave's angry expression and he responded, "Perhaps that was Mr. Malone; I should go and have a look. I appreciate your support. In the hopes that Dave would take mercy on him, he moved very quickly in the direction of his house.

After numerous days had passed, the expedition had only 24 hours to complete. Dave found it difficult to persuade himself that everything would be alright and that nothing unpleasant would happen to him. However, on other occasions, his imagination took over and persuaded him that failure may result in his demise. Sometimes he thought he would be happy with his family, but other times he wondered if sacrificing his life was even worth it.Since Dave was oblivious to the consequences of what was about to happen, he became like a lone wolf who was only trying to survive. He never planned for anything to happen to him in this way; all he wanted was a normal life. Even if he were to win and go back to his family, Dave wondered what would happen to the actual world. As a result, Dave was even more furious, but since he didn't want to lose, he made the decision to steal The Perplex and see his family. He would take all necessary steps to reach them.

With only an hour till the party began, Dave was anxious but not fearless. He made sure he had everything he needed by packing his back. He kept a very low profile since he didn't want to be thought of. He arrived at the structure and got a taxi to the Burger Bash eatery, which was directly across from the T.E.R.S.A. building. He took his suitcase and went inside the restaurant as soon as he arrived. He places a snack order to make himself appear like a regular person. He was also observing the structure. He waited till 8 o'clock for an additional 15 minutes so that everyone could start working. He then grabbed his suitcase and entered the restroom. Using the screwdriver, he escaped through the window. In search of the hidden door that the letter had mentioned, he went around the back of the structure. He pushed the trash cans away to reveal the path, which resembled an underground slide. He simply leaped inside the passage because he was prepared for it.

He slipped into what felt like a limbo before emerging at the other end. Inside the wall, he was. He went and got the screwdrivers and opened the screws on the slides, which were vents. When he ran outdoors, he discovered a glass room. Who then turned to face the CCTV cameras whose lenses were covered in white fog. He recognized it was RH. On the other side of the room, he cast a glance. He noticed a door with nearby fingerprint readers. To trace the fingerprints, he removed the rubber fingerprint and set it down on the glass palette. The door opened once the fingerprint was scanned by the scanner.

 

After seeing the retinal scan and a glass box containing The Perplex, which was glowing, Dave felt a little more at ease. He took a deep breath, pulled out the button, and set the timer for 10 seconds because he knew he only had 10 seconds. He hit the button after counting "5,4,3,2 and 1" and disabling the security for 10 seconds. Dave waited for the box to open, but it didn't, driving him crazy. He made an effort to force the box to open, but it wouldn't. After ten seconds, a security alarm was triggered. David attempted to flee since he was unsure of what to do when the special forces approached the door.Dave was asked to place his hands behind his back, spin around, and kneel by the commander of the Special Forces. If you didn't, we would have had to use deadly force. Dave gave in and believed that it was the end of him. He then began to reflect on his family and the time they had spent together. The Perplex flew and adhered to Dave's hand as the Head of the Special Forces advanced to arrest Dave, saying "Thank You for the Cooperation…WAIT WHATS THAT?" when an opening in a black-blue portal appeared and swallowed Dave whole.

                                                    CHAPTER - 6 A New World

Unawarely, Dave was sprawled out on the pavement. When a man came saw him laying in the street, he dialled the hospital. Once they got there, they drove him to the hospital. The doctors on duty at the hospital assumed responsibility, loaded him onto a stretcher, and transported him to the emergency room to find out what had happened. Do you know anything about this gentleman Mister?," the man who saw Dave on the road replied when the doctor asked him that question. I was merely strolling when I came across him unconscious on the ground. I believe we need to identify him and alert the police. “Okay! It seems OK, now. When will he wake up? the man asked in an interjection. We still don't know how he lost consciousness because everything in his body appears fine, but let's hope for the best. stated the physician.

When Dave's eyes suddenly opened, he was laying in his hospital bed with a high blood pressure. When the nurse arrived and instructed him to calm down, Dave questioned, "Where am I?" You are still in San Francisco, no one moved you anywhere, the nurse stated. Dave was at ease that he was still in his city and believed that his attempt to steal The Perplex had failed and that he had likely fallen unconscious in the chamber, since he is now in the hospital. However, that was not the case at all.

The police visited the hospital and looked into Dave. When they questioned him, "Who are you, sir?" Dave answered, "I'm Dave Craden, and I only live here." I don't know how I passed out, but I'm not a bad guy; in fact, I was just looking at The Perplex and. The police asked, "Wait, are you referring to the dimensional travelling apparatus?" Yes, Dave replied in a perplexed manner. Of course, "What else do I need to discuss with you?" Cops challenged Dave, "Sir, I think you are incorrect, Are you sure you are talking about The Perplex?" Yes, man, Dave retorted. I'm positive that was The Perplex. The Perplex was destroyed together with the T.E.R.S.A. building eight months ago, so perhaps I guess you must be having a dream, the cops said in response to the officers' confusion. Dave lost his mind, but it didn't show on his face. He was unaware of what was going on since he believed he was simply going to steal The Perplex last night. It must be a dream, sir, he informed the police.

Dave was later discharged from the hospital at 8 am in the morning. The guy who helped him to get to the hospital came over to him and said “Actually I found this watch on your wrist and thought to steal it and keep in my pocket but then I realized that this watch didn’t show time So here I am returning you”. The guy took out the watch out of his pocket and it was The Perplex. Dave was stunned as he wasn’t sure what was happening with him. He took the watch in his hand and said “Thanks for the kindness and thank you for helping me”. Dave then walked away from there went to a quest to find what was happening.

Dave scanned the area and noticed things that weren't there before. He noticed the traffic signals, which were green at the top, orange in the centre, and red at the bottom. I thought orange wasn't there at all, and red was always at the top, he thought to himself. There must be an error of some sort. The only diagonal zebra crossing was visible to him. The cars had very diverse appearances. In January, the populace was dressed in summer attire. He realised the clock was actually upside down when he saw it. To Dave, everything felt a little suspicious.

Then he reasoned that he should probably return home before he loses all control of himself. On the street, he yelled, "TAXI!" Dave called out "Wallace street" to the cabbie when he stopped. Dave attempted to open the door by pulling it forward after the taxi driver gave his consent. Are you new here? the cabbie yelled. Push it back, you foolish thing. Dave shoved it backwards after becoming startled. He left for home, but when he got there, he wasn't sure what was going on. To calm his nerves, he stepped inside his home and began seeking for a bottle of beer. "Dave, is that really you?" a voice from behind him questioned as he searched for the bottle.When Dave turned around, he saw his wife Isabella, who he couldn't believe his eyes were seeing

CHAPTER - 7 Reunion

Isabella asked, "Dave, what are you doing here?" When Dave finally realised it was Isabella, he became paralysed. Dave began to think of his wife and their good times, thinking it was a dream he wasn't anticipating. "I asked you something, Dave, and how the hell do you have a beard," shouted Isabella. You were freshly shaved, so respond! Dave replied, "Err.. May I ask you? ", not really knowing what to say. How did you get here? "WHAT AM I DOING HERE?" exclaimed Isabella. ARE you impaired? Both of us have children and reside here. Dave was surprised that his kids were also back and he asked “KIDS? You mean Jim and Henry?”. “YEAH OFCOURSE! Jim and Henry are our kids. What has happened you to you?”. said Isabella as she was confused. Dave didn’t want to destroy his family again and so he decided that he wont tell Isabella about him and act like he is the real Dave until the real Dave returns.

"Sorry, I was acting a little stupid, and this beard, um, actually, it's a new sort of oil that makes my beard grow in an hour," Dave apologised. A LITTLE DUMB? shouted Isabella. You forgot about me and the kids, right? "I didn't forget, it just slipped my mind," Dave stated while attempting to persuade Isabella. "Now you expect me to believe this?" questioned Isabella. "Just ignore everything and spend some time in the garden with me," Dave said. Dave, I'm sure you know we have to get to the office, remarked Isabella. Ah, yeah! Dave, who was delighted to see Isabella again, exclaimed, "I just entirely forgot about it! Being preoccupied with spending time with Isabella prevented him from considering how it was actually achievable."Dave, get ready right away! We are running late already, Isabella said. Dave answered, "Okay, just give me about ten minutes." In his own little universe, Dave believed that he was once more content with his family. He began to believe that he could get his life back. As he made his way upstairs, he noticed something in the dining room that he had not at all anticipated. He noticed his picture hanging on the wall with three candles lit in front of it. Dave was extinct in this universe.

He felt numb and stunned. He returned slowly to the chair and sat down while gazing at the picture. "UMM.. Hey!" he called. "Who is this, Isabella?" Isabella was standing where Dave was looking when he turned to face the entrance. He was aware that Isabella was well-informed. Dave, it's only you, Isabella exclaimed. Dave sprinted for the door as he became uneasy. "It's you, but from another universe!" yelled Isabella. Dave paused and turned to face Isabella. "Exactly what do you mean by ANOTHER UNIVERSE?" "Just calm down and sit down, I will fill you in on everything," Isabella stated.

Isabella began to speak. "About seven months ago, Scosfreed and I were celebrating The Perplex's success at a party. You were merely a lab employee. Dave said in disbelief, "So you were the project manager, and I'm a scientist. Where I am, everything is totally different. "I was about to meet the mayor when you told me that you have to run to the house since you forgot an important file," continued Isabella. Then, while I waited for your arrival with the kids, I got a call saying that you had passed away in a vehicle accident. Dave imagined a different situation if he were in his position. With a lone voice, Isabella said, "After you left, I was utterly miserable and sad. Henry and Jim frequently talk about you, but I couldn't show them the same level of love and care that you did. Then Professor Scosfreed suggested we collaborate so we could both make more money. I joined him. I briefly met you and lived with you using The Perplex, but it was never the same, so I returned. We were aware that someone might one day arrive from another universe, and we were able to conduct research on it. I had no idea you were going to show up. I recognised you when you arrived today and believed I still had a chance to reconcile with my family. You have The Perplex, and I need you to activate it so that you can return to your starting point.

So you mean that I am in a separate universe and in this universe I am dead and you aren't? Dave asked, absolutely surprised. He wasn't prepared for this narrative. In this universe, if we push the door rather than pull it, the car door will open. After we first met after a year and a half, you now want me to return. Yes, Dave, you need to come back, Isabella murmured as she brushed away her tears. Get back to your children. I DON'T HAVE MY KIDS LIKE YOU, shouted Dave. YOU DIED WITH OUR KIDS IN A CAR ACCIDENT IN MY UNIVERSE. I don't want you to lose yourself once more. "My kids think their father died in a car accident, so how am I meant to tell them that their father is back but from another world?" Isabella asked. If anyone find out, you'll be the subject of a government experiment. I do not want it to take place.

Dave was upset that he couldn't live with his family once more despite understanding everything. "Then how am I supposed to survive without you and the kids?" he said. "You've got to accept it Dave and move on like I did," Isabella said. As he sobbed, Dave exclaimed, "Okay, my love!" "So you know how to use it?" Isabella asked as she took a step back. Actually, I really have no idea. Dave responded, "The last time I used it, it simply happened. "Okay, listen to me out," Isabella remarked. Take the watch, then put it on. The luminous Perplex was taken out of Dave's pocket and placed on his wrist. “It says 3 hours are left” What does it even mean?” asked Dave. "It means you got a time total of 16 hours but you are left with 3 hours if you don’t go back now , I don’t know what will happen with you.Now consider where you want to go before you do it. Think specifically of your home because you want to return there.Think specifically on your house since you want to return there. You may be sent to another location if you aren't careful.”

Dave began to reflect on everything that had ever happened to him, including the terror, hatred, and worry he had experienced as a result of Isabella's passing. "I love you big guy," Isabella interrupted. A blue-black wormhole opened and engulfed Dave as he grinned. In front of his house, Dave was sprawled out on the ground. This time, he wasn't unconscious, so he got to his feet and walked inside to see if he was still there or not. He went to check the date and was relieved to learn that it was February 10th. He reasoned that February 10th would be significant in any universe, so he went online to look for information on his family's passing and The Perplex's demise. He then looked over all of the images and saw that nothing was amiss. The time wasn't inverted this time when he checked the clock and it was 8:30 pm.Everything in the refrigerator was good when he went to check it, but one bottle of beer was missing. He began to question whether he had consumed it. He continued moving backwards while peering into the refrigerator and ran into a man. When he turned around, he saw the man carrying the beer it was him only, but he was wearing a different outfit. Both of them shouted, "AAAAAAAA...!"

CHAPTER - 8 Twin Trouble

The man simply resembled Dave; it was as if they were identical twins. They both exchanged long looks with each other as they tried to make sense of what was happening. "All right, dude, first off, don't be alarmed at all; I'm you, but from another universe. My name is Davis, and I'm not here to hurt you, the man added. Dave cried out, "Davis? Like only D-A-V-E, my name is Dave. I exist in your world. "No, you're not. I'm the guest here, and you're in your native planet," Davis retorted. Dave stated, "I should have simply been enjoying my life. I shouldn't have gotten into this in the first place." "Man, it's not your fault, I've been here seven hours. The Perplex and Skoshfreed are the reasons I'm here.”

“Dave asked, "You mean Professor Scosfreed?" In my universe, it was Skosfreed, Davis chuckled. I apologise; I'm here for Scosfreed! You want The Perplex also? Dave inquired, perplexed. But now it's mine! I'm sorry, but I've been following you for the past seven hours, Davis remarked. The box didn't open when you were stealing The Perplex, but I made it go stuck so you wouldn't open it and get caught. The Perplex smashed the glass and spared you from a torturous death, but I had no idea how you had managed to control it.Then, I was unable to follow you as you were transferred to an unknown realm. I came here to find out more, but you were already there. YOU MADE THE BOX GO STUCK! shouted Dave. I MIGHT'VE DIED MAN. DID YOU ASK FOR THE WATCH MAN? GET THIS. Remember that you stole this; it was never yours. "Actually, to be honest, it was never created in your reality; it was made by me and Skosfreed," remarked Davis as he laughed. It's a really drawn-out tale.

Tell me everything, Dave demanded since he was unable to comprehend anything. "So basically, my timeframe is actually ahead in technology compared to other worlds," Davis said as he began to speak. I and Skosfreed developed a tool that would enable us to go to other universes in my universe. Skosfreed contemplated transferring a tiny portion to another universe so that everyone may benefit from this kind of technology, but he had no idea what would ultimately happen to him. All other Scosfreed who he shared his technology with in other universes embraced it, but the Scosfreed in your universe was pure evil. Every universe was given a piece by Skosfreed. Every reality other than my universe was only allowed to use The Perplex three times in order to avoid disrupting the flow. This means that they are capable of making three excursions, counting the initial trip and the return. The original Perplex can be used endlessly. When your Skosfreed used it twice without realising it, he came to my universe to steal the original Perplex. He killed Skosfreed in the process and made off with The Perplex. In order to take Scosfreed's revenge, I am here to capture Scosfreed and Perplex.

Dave's head was completely blown by all that had happened to him during the last two days. So let me quickly summarise this, Dave said. You are coming to get revenge on the Scosfreed in my universe for killing your Skosfreed. They have taken the original Perplex. But what is Scosfreed actually accomplishing if this is the original Perplex? "Even I don't know that, I think we should get to him and he will only tell us," Davis stated after giving the matter some attention and started walking to kill Scosfreed.Dave shouted. Wait WAIT!... Your Skosfreed was murdered by a Scosfreed. Do you not consider him to be somewhat dangerous? We should probably come up with a strategy, and do you even know where he is?”.

Davis mumbled, "I know, um." Dave remarked, "See? You don't know, so let's simply plan our attack first. To combat Scosfreed, Davis and Dave started cooperating as brothers. He is at the lab doing something, I don't know, I found him, Dave said. "How do you even know where he is?" asked Davis. The CCTVs are actually connected to my laptop because I operate T.E.R.S.A. Labs, Dave said with a chuckle. in order to spy on everyone. Are you referring to T.E.R.E.E.S.A Labs? stated Davis. Do you have anything that could be beneficial in our goal to "Terminate Scosfreed"? Dave asked. "It must be different in your reality." Davis said as he opened his huge bag, "I purchased us some toys for us." When Dave realised the toys were actually firearms, he was both thrilled and terrified. Why did you even bring a rocket launcher, asked Dave? What even did you think?" "I truly prefer to be ready for everything," stated Davis.

Dave and Davis were prepared, but a thought kept running through Dave's head: "Hey, wait, wait, wait! …. How did you even get here if I have the original Perplex and in your universe The Perplex doesn't even exist? Actually, this was a two-trip use of Perplex that my wife Isabella and I constructed with the aid of the plans that Skosfreed had left for us, Davis smiled and added. When Dave learned Isabella's name, he grew dejected and asked, "In your reality, your wife is also called Isabella?" "That's an odd instance, but that's true," Davis grinned. Jake and Henley, my children, are also present. What are your children's names, and more importantly, where is your family? Dave slumped to his feet in sadness. When Dave questioned how he knew, Davis replied, "Actually I have travelled a lot of universes, and in most cases the other Davis, Isabells, and even the kids had done it, but they realised that it wasn't worth it and they should move on."

Scosfreed will flee!" yelled Dave. Davis remarked, "In my world, we employ a different substance instead of petroleum. Dave chuckles as they both enter the vehicle. To catch Scosfreed, Dave and Davis travelled to T.E.R.S.A. Labs. Are you happy with your family?, he asked Dave while they were both driving. I am, but if something happens to them, I am not, Dave scoffed. I can relate to your emotions, but always keep moving forward in mind. Isabella would be quite glad if you moved on. Dave exclaimed, "Alright dude!" while getting emotional. They were both T.E.R.S.A Labs and were observing the structure across the street.Beware Scosfreed—YOUR DADDY IS HERE, Davis said in a menacing tone.

CHAPTER - 9 Lifeline

Davis and Dave entered the premises discretely. "They were partying a few hours ago, but everything is just closed now," Dave questioned. Where is everyone, there is literally no one here? In a mocking tone, Davis added, "I believe it was around two hours ago that an unidentified individual entered the vents to steal a device, which prompted the special forces to arrive. That, in my opinion, explains why everyone just left. "Don't you believe?" Dave remarked, sarcastically, "Hahaha! I'm laughing myself to death. To obtain Scosfreed, they both moved cautiously toward the lab. Walking, Dave got up with one more issue. "You claimed to be tracking me and to have witnessed my capture by the special forces, but you weren't there. How is that even possible? Actually, I knocked out the security officers while I was watching you on CCTV, adds Davis. If you're forgetting, allow me to remind you that when everything is said and done, I'll return, but the cops are waiting for you. Good luck. "You know you are more evil than Scosfreed," declares Dave..

As soon as they both entered the lab, they noticed Scosfreed working on something. I barely have 20 minutes left, can we work quickly, according to the watch. Davis stated. I know you both are here, guys, and I also know that Dave is aware of my actual nature, Scosfreed yells in an abrupt manner. You two need to come out of the shadows and interact with me in a manly manner, in my opinion. Both of them emerge from the shadows and approach Scosfreed. Oh my God, the mighty God! You two have identical appearances. How is it even conceivable that? I'm extremely afraid. Will someone kindly assist me? HAHAHAHA”Dave remarks You know, this HAHAHAHA language is so outdated now. That's the first thing that makes you cringe. I've seen so many movies that I even know what you're going to do next. As soon as you reveal your horrible scheme to kill everyone, we'll show up and give you a swift kick in the behind. You will then beg for your life, but we won't listen, and you will perish. Skosfreed learned that I was unaware that it would terminate a third time, though. He then returned and informed me that if I attempted to use it again after that, it would be the last time I could.I then set out to murder Skosfreed and take The Perplex. But the silly watch didn't work when I tried to use it. I gave it to the government as a result. Some crackhead tried to utilise it while those moron researchers were researching, which led to a terrible demise. But now that I've made this interdimensional portal key, I'll be able to travel endlessly. To become the one and only Scosfreed, all I have to do is connect The Perplex, and it will use its ability to traverse universes and eliminate all of my alternate selves.

Actually, you misunderstood, Dave responded. You will spend the rest of your life in prison and end up dead. Taking out the rocket launcher, Davis replies, "Or we could just murder him." Are you kidding me, Dave replies as he stops him. You're going to use a rocket launcher to murder one individual. "I just have 15 minutes left, and I have to exact revenge and return to my family with The Perplex," says Davis. Scosfreed begins firing pistols at them all of a sudden. Both of them hide beneath a cover. "Mr. Craden, please give me The Perplex and leave," Scosfreed commands. I have to use the rocket launcher, Davis exclaims. If you use it now, the building will collapse and no one will be alive, Dave cries. You take this, and I'll handle this psycho.. He hands Davis The Perplex while firing at Scosfreed.

They both engage in a vicious fight. Scosfreed is shot when Dave starts shooting with an assault rifle. When he collapses, Dave and Davis go to the scene to investigate. Scosfreed kicks Dave out of nowhere in an abrupt motion. Davis attempts to shoot Scosfreed with his gun, but Scosfreed is quick and puts the gun to Davis' head. I need you to give me the Perplex, Mr. Davis, or your friend Mr. Craden will pass away first. I know you have it. Davis began to consider what to do when he realised that Dave was asleep and unable to stand. "Mr. Davis, you don't have much time," says Scosfreed. In an effort to help his friend first, Davis hands over The Perplex to Scosfreed and he puts in the space specifically made for the Perplex with The Portkey. I need you, Mr. Davis, to get on your knees and turn away from me, Scosfreed commands. Davis kneels down and turns away, feeling as though he failed. After that, Scosfreed launches a Blue Black gateway.

Dave suddenly yells, "DAVIS TAKE THE KEY!" Davis quickly turns away and steals the key before Scosfreed can realise what is happening. YOU WANT TO TRAVEL? TAKES THIS THEN yells Dave. Scosfreed is pushed into the portal with the rocket launcher after Dave fires the rocket launcher at him. Scosfreed enters the portal and is swept through, disappearing forever as the portal shuts. Dave exclaims, "WOW! AWESOME SHOT! DAVIS, DID YOU SEE THAT? DAVIS?”. Dave rushed over to Davis as he was fading from the reality and asked, "WHAT IS HAPPENING? WHY DO YOU KEEP GOING AWAY? ."I believe I have stayed too long in this reality, which ends in erasing my existence," says Davis. But how is it even possible? cries Dave. This cannot be allowed to occur. Davis said as he started to slowly fade away, "Now I can't use my Perplex. Therefore, I ask that you return to my family with my Perplex and the original Perplex and stay there. They shouldn't be aware of my disappearance. "YOU WILL GO BACK TO YOUR FAMILY AND TAKE THE PERPLEX WITH YOU," Dave cries, adding. Now Davis was fading quickly.

 "I'm afraid that won't happen," adds Davis. I had one more thing I wanted to tell you. Remember when you could use The Perplex but Scosfreed couldn't? Your life was saved by the watch that found you. I now understand what transpired; Skosfreed was aware that Scosfreed would eventually come to kill him. As a result, he modified the Perplex to only react to all Daves and protect its owner. "You saved everyone," says Davis. Dave was sobbing because he couldn't help his friend as Davis faded away. He removes the watch from the portkey in order to grant his friend's final desire.

He picks The Perplex and Davis' Perplex. He puts on The Perplex and starts remembering all the wonderful times he had with Davis. He also envisions Isabella and their children enjoying life together. He is swallowed by a portal that opens. He reaches outside his home without falling this time. He enters his home to find Isabella, who comes up to him and remarks, "You are so damn late! Without their father, Jake and Henley declared they wouldn't eat the food. Why are you so unclean go and take a shower.” Although Dave's eyes are filled with tears, his face doesn't betray his anguish. Yes, honey! And take this from here. He gives up the Perplex. Oh so did you help your other self? Isabella realises. "Yeah," answers Dave. Of certainly." "Thank You Dave for helping Davis!" said Isabella as her eyes began to well up with tears. Isabella is aware that Dave is not the Davis, Dave realises. He is aware that Davis is an essential part of his family and his family is incomplete without him.
