The Pale Blue Dot

Rupa, a young girl of nine had come to hear the speech of a famous astronaut, Natasha who had just returned from her journey to Mars. Rupa was very passionate about exploring our Universe, but she was very poor. She had come here to know all about the red planet and just find happiness in imagining all the fun which Natasha had experienced.

Just then Natasha began, "Good Morning ladies and gentlemen. With pride in my heart, I feel elated to say that our mission of exploring Mars has been a huge success. I lived on Mars for about 5 days and did a lot of research. Those 5 days were the best days of my life as they gave me a lot of experience and learning. Going there and living is obviously not easy. It takes months of planning and a lot of courage. But man has made the impossible possible. We have created history! ", saying so Natasha ended her speech.

Rupa was fascinated by the thought of living on Mars and almost immediately decided to go and talk to Natasha. Her secretary wasn't allowing Rupa to go inside but as soon as Natasha saw her, she permitted her inside. With teary eyes, Rupa sat down and explained her situation to her. Seeing her passion and dedication towards this, Natasha was greatly touched. With a smile on her face, Natasha said, "Rupa, when I was living on Mars the Earth seemed like a pale blue dot. In this vast cosmos, we are even smaller than an atom. Our joys, our sorrows, our happiness, our pain is all limited to this blue dot. You live only once and write your own destiny. If you really wish to be an astronaut and take your self somewhere beyond this blue dot, don't lose faith and hope".

Rupa said that she was ready to work very hard and deal with all the obstacles and make her life beautiful and worthy. Seeing this, Natasha readily agreed to sponsor her education. Rupa had never felt so happy in her life. Natasha said, "Promise me that you will make most of this. The path from dreams to success does exist. May you have the vision to find it, the courage to get onto it and the perseverance to follow it. Best of luck for your future and always remember,

Often the tasks will be many

And the hills unbeatable too.
