THE LOST NIGHT

Andrea was mystified about what had happened in the morning and decided not to give another eerie attempt on it. Diverting herself, she stepped onto the patio to revere the beauty of the hill in front of her. The hill looked like a sage with utmost composure and as a silent spectator to the mysteries around. She gazed at the hill and thought to sit on it for a while sometimes in dark.

“Why should I sit on it in dark?”, she questioned herself on the thought of sitting on the hill in the dark.

“Maybe it would be a thrill… Oh no God I am insane”.

Sitting on the swing chair, she gazed into the evening. The view was feasting her eyes with the beauty of the Twilight between the two mountains and on top of the colossal tree. She felt that the tree that stood alone never looked away from her. The beauty was ravishing with the sunset as it was bearing a golden crown. Birds were chirping continuously cherishing the evening and returning to their nests. She was there all alone with all the loneliness in the world with only the sound of air and cosmos rounding her ears. The gentle wind touched her body and it was appeasing. Her blonde thick hair was bouncing on her shoulders, and she felt like the wind whispered a secret in her ears by blowing her hair away. Forgetting everything, she slumbered for a few hours in the swing chair that creaked now. Waking up, she realized that the night is falling in and she has to charge herself with some food. She then, headed towards the kitchen to make sandwiches and a glass of wine.

While supping the wine she had lightning of fear and reminisced the incident that happened that morning. The same husky voice murmured in her ears. Her eyes widened and she sweats blood, thinking about what she experienced. It was dismaying. The glass of wine fell down as her hand started trembling. To overcome the traumatic mood, she turned onto the music player, switched on her favorite playlist. The “Shake it off” song began to play. She then turned on all the room lights to make the room even brighter to stay fearless. She hugged her favorite giant teddy and laid on the bed. Revolving in her bed, she finds it difficult to sleep. She covered the blanket until her head and forcibly put her asleep.

A few hours later…

Thud… Andrea woke up baffled. At midnight, she suddenly fell down from the bed. She felt someone flung her down from the bed and could not move her body for a while. Though she was deeply hurt, she managed to sit down on the floor and had a glimpse of the room. The colorful string lights, wall lamps, bedside lights everything was turned off. The room was dark. The music player was no longer singing songs.

The murkiness and the silence put together made her think that someone had she is under the graveyard. She started choking after a while and she tried to come out of it as she could not bear the suffocation. Slowly, she started crawling on the floor to find the bedside lamp to get some light. As time passed, she could neither find the bedside lamp nor the bed. She, then realized it’s neither a graveyard nor her room but some other place that could be haunted too.

With the support of the wall, Andrea stood up and looked for the switches or maybe an entrance or vent whichever could help her to escape from the trap... But she was helpless and clueless. Her heart started pounding more than normal speed. In the vacuum of the room, she could hear her heartbeat which was deafening. Wiping her sweat with the sleeves of her tees, she held her breath tightly to shout for help.

“Hey, anyone there? " Andrea hollered.

Her voice reverberated.

“Please, Can someone help me? I’m in need of help. Can anyone hear me?”, shouted again.

All she could hear was her voice reverberating. She was clueless about the place where she was struck.

She was roaming inside the room without getting any hint for quite a while and then she suddenly got knocked by something and fell down.

“It looks like stairs”, Andrea mumbled.

“Yes, it’s stairs… “, Holding on the rail of the stairs she shouted.

Finally, I could locate some way to go out from this hell-like place saying that Andrea started climbing stairs. She felt a little relieved from the fear.

“I need some water. I’m thirsty. I cannot make it on a whole. I’m tired”, telling herself Andrea after climbing few steps.

“Where these are taking me to? I could not climb one at least for now. OMG, this is sucking my blood. God, please save me”, tears rolled out on her cheeks.

She was feeling hopeless, sitting in the dark thinking what to do. She sat on the stairs unmoved for quite some time.

“Let me do it…”, stimulated herself and started climbing the stairs again.

“This time I will need to count the number of stairs”, she told herself.

“121,122,123… Oh, please end this for God's sake”. Andrea bawled in fear.

131...

132…

133…

???

No more stairs! She doubted a second.

Yeah, no more stairs, looks like a pathway.

“Now where am I heading towards?”, Andrea puzzled.

She started moving fast now with an over Andrea fell down after hitting against something. Slowly she creeps her hand to find out what was that.

“It’s a door. It’s a door…”, she screamed with happiness.

She looked for the door handle to open it. She grabbed on the door handle with a lot of hope and relief. she opened the door but it seemed to be locked.

She was outraged and with utmost disappointment, she started banging on the door.

“Hey, anyone there?”

“Hello …”

“Did you hear me banging on the door?”

“I’m behind the locked door. Please help me come out”

“Hello... anyone there?”

whooping loudly, she again pushed the door handle.

Luckily, the door opened.

“Oh yeah… it’s open”, I’m blessed now to be out from this ghost trap”, shouting loud Andrea stepped out of the room.

It’s a patio.

“Is this my patio? But where did the staircase come from inside my room? Am I dreaming?”, questioned herself.

When the sweat and fear covered the face of Andrea, the gentle wind touched her face. She felt much relaxed and went to the end of the patio.

The darkness in the sky looked like the stars and moons were abandoned. The sound in the air was different to her.

She could hear the sea tides. The sound of the waves from the sea.

“But, where did the sea come from?”, Andrea perplexed.

“Again? Where am I?”

“Who brought me here?”

With lots of questions being asked on-air, Andrea decided to jump out from the patio and rescue herself from this trap. A moment, she remembered that she had climbed more than 150 stars and realized it’s impossible for a safe landing.

Being weary, she fell asleep by sitting on the patio wall.

A few hours later, she had a jerk and fell down suddenly. Again, she felt as if she was flung down by someone. Swiftly, she opened up her eyes and woke up on the floor.

She could not hear the sound of sea tides. Unable to feel the gentle wind. It’s again a darkroom. She could hear her breathing noise brasher than before.

“Where the hell am I now?” shouted Andrea

Her voice bounced back at her.

“This is silly, I can’t take this anymore.” Cried out loud.

Leaned on the wall Andrea cried loud as she could not even understand what she is going through with all these.

“Andrea, you will be blessed with what you wished for. For that, your soul may have to leave your body.” The husky voice rolled inside Andrea's ears.

“No… shouting loud, Andrea closed her both the ears. I made a mistake; I should have not done that stupid experiment this morning. I want to be alive. I don’t want to hear those words again. I will not give up.”, Andrea started again with energy to search for a way to escape from this trap.

She started searching for the door by rubbing her hand against the walls exuberantly. In a span of time, to her surprise, she found a couple of switches.

Praying Almighty, with loads of relief she switched on the first switch. None of the lights turned on. Her hands started trembling and sweat rolled out from the forehead. Wiping off the sweat with one hand, she turned on the other switch.

The lights turned on consecutively on the top. Andrea was left in shock.

She turned towards her left and right.

“What the hell?” Andrea startled with a pale face.

Andrea was standing in the middle of the long tunnel all alone.
