The long night

 I stared at the letters tattooed into my right forearm. I had no memory how I had got it or why I was in a hospital or why I was floating at the edge of a muddy, river bank. I had absolutely no memory of who I was.

I couldn't understand if me floating in the river bank was my imagination or my memory. The letters tattoed in my forearm were K,Y and T. It was 11:37 pm, I was in a hospital and was heavily raining, I escaped from the hospital, reached a nearby cyber cafe and searched this initials in Google which showed results of KYT construction company. I got the Company's owner Ramesh's address and went to meet him in a hope to know about myself. But, Ramesh fleed as soon as he saw me. I enquired about him from his neighbors. They told me that recently a goon named Viktor came to Ramesh's house with his henchmen. At 12:00 am,suddenly, police came and arrested me. 

The police had arrested me because Ramesh filed a complaint against me accusing me that I was trying to kill him. At 12:23 am, A girl named Tara came and bailed me out. When I asked her who she was, she told me she was my wife. She also told me that I am a patient suffering from Alzheimer's and I should immediately return to the hospital from where I escaped and continue my treatment. I enquired about the initials in my forearm and she responded that it is her name K.Y. Tara which I had it tattoed at our first anniversary. Convinced, I went back to the hospital to continue my treatment at 1:00 am.

That night, someone entered my room and was approaching to me. I got alert and when the person tried to inject some drug into me, I beat him and asked him who he was. He told me that he is a henchmen of Viktor who had sent him to kill me. At 1:54 am, I escaped again from the hospital and found out Viktor's whereabouts and went to meet him. But, when I reached there, he was already been killed. It was 2:12 am. I ran from the place before the police came.

At 2:35 am, I went back to the hospital in disguise, to get Tara's contact details but the receptionist was confused as there was no one named Tara in the list. Sensing some foul play, I tried to recollect the things I remembered. The image of the muddy river bank where I was floating came to my mind and I realised that it was west end of River Bames. I went there and frantically searched for any clues amidst the thunderstorm. Luckily, I found a broken cell phone there. It was 3:00 am, I took it to the cyber cafe I previously visited and pleaded with the techie there to restore the data of the phone. He did it and when I switched on the phone, I saw my photo in the wallpaper. I realised that this was my phone and my name is Karun Yash Tanwar which were the initials tattoed on my forearm. I also found out I wasn't married and no one named Tara existed in my life. There were also some documents and photos of KYT construction sites saved in my phone. 

At 3:28 am, I went to Ramesh's house seeking answers but had to back out as the place was heavily guarded by police. The police saw me and started chasing me forcing me to hide in a restaurant godown completely drenched up due to the heavy downpour. At 3:45 am, slowly my phone started heating and blasted, deleting all the data permanently. After the police went, I sneaked into the kitchen of the restaurant and was about to get out through the emergency exit, but then,I spotted the girl who said herself to be Tara, as a waitress working in the restaurant. She tried to run as soon as she saw me but I caught her somehow. She confessed that her real name was Seema and she had been hired by Ramesh to act like my wife. At 4:07 am, Suddenly, Viktor and his henchmen appeared and killed Seema. They kidnapped me and took me to Ramesh's office. 

The rain was pouring slow at 4:46 am, when we reached his office, Ramesh revealed that I am his biological son and he had named the company after me. But, then I had found out that he had been constructing buildings at green zone illegally. I had warned him about this but he had decided to kill me. He had hired Viktor for the same reason. Viktor and his henchmen attacked me when I was driving on the bridge resulting in me falling from bridge into River Bames and loosing my memory. Viktor had thought me to be dead but I was rescued by some locals who had admitted me in the hospital. When I went to Ramesh's house, he thought I had known all the truth and called the police and had me arrested. Since he could not kill me in jail, he had hired Seema to get me back into that hospital. There, he had told Viktor to send his henchmen to kill me, but he failed. Since, the police had got too much involved in this case, Viktor wanted to get free of Ramesh ,and, hence came up with his own plan; acting dead and framing me, due to which the police were chasing me when I had went to Ramesh's house. But, Ramesh had threatened Viktor to help him kill me and Viktor had no choice since Ramesh knew about every crime Viktor had committed. Relunctantly, Viktor had brought me back to Ramesh. Ramesh had planned that he would have me killed by Viktor and call police, who were already hunting me, and tell that I had tried to kill him and ,so, he had killed me in self defence. 

Now, After I understood everything I came with a plan. When, Viktor was about to pull the trigger, I told a a lie that I had already released all the evidence in social media and hence the police would arrest only them. But, Ramesh was still forcing Viktor to kill me. It was 5:35 am, Viktor panicked and killed Ramesh instead and ran away. He forced me to hold the gun to frame me. The police arrived at 5:42 am and were about to arrest me. I told them to check the CCTV camera installed in the office which clearly showed Viktor alive and killing Ramesh. It stops raining at 6:00 am. The poilce hunted Viktor and made him confess the truth at 6:34 am. Finally , At 7:00 am , I was freed of all the charges and walked happily looking up on the sun shining in the blue sky.
