The Hickey Acquaintance Part 2

It was a special day, the 22nd of August, Dabbu's birthday. The clock had just turned 12 am, and Piku was dying to wish Dabbu and wanted to make the first wish herself. Dabbu worked for an American company as a credit risk manager, so his office got over in the wee hours of the night after 2.30 am. Piku came back home early that day. She was constantly looking at her watch to check the time. She didn't take her dinner out of nervousness and extreme excitement. It's Dabbu's birthday after all; how could she miss wishing him?

By the way, Piku gave Dabbu her own cute nickname; it was Subu whom she fondly called.

It was just 12 am by the clock. Piku dialed her Subu's number... tringgg...

"Piku, you are still awake?? I thought you slept by now!"

"Happy birthday, Subu. I wish you all the very best in life. Let my share of happiness, if any in my destiny, be yours. I can't say how much I love you, Subu." Piku's voice suddenly became moist; it was clear she got too emotional, the love clearly was so evident in her voice.

"Hey Piku, what's wrong with you? All good?"

Dabbu either deliberately tried to divert the topic or plain ignored Piku's growing love for him. He said in a rather plain monotonous way, "Thanks for the wishes, good night!"

It came as a tight slap on Piku's face, it seemed!!!! So her love was only one-sided; it wasn't the same for her Subu.

Subu once told Piku, on his wife's absence from home, "You know Piku, I really wish to kiss you, the pink thin lips of yours, suck those lips for hours together, just you and me. You in my arms, I wish I could hold you tight in my arms so you can hear my heart beating for you!"

An astounded Piku knew she fell head over heels in love with her Subu. They, for the very first time, started passionately smooching over the phone itself, so much so that both Subu and Piku started moaning!!! That was an intense night of passion, treasured deeply in Piku's heart.

The next day Piku texted normally, "Subu, how are you?"

No response came from Subu.

Almost three days passed at a stretch, yet no calls, no texts. Piku understood Subu ghosted her!

Piku was breaking to her bones within, yet unable to say a single word about what was exactly going on in her turbulent mind. She tried her best to keep a brave face, but on the fourth day while working at the office, out of nowhere she collapsed! Her colleagues immediately took her to the office visiting a doctor for a check-up. The doctor diagnosed and said, that possibly this happened because of overthinking and immense tension, and prescribed certain medicines and asked to stay calm as much as possible.

Piku went on medical leave for a few days. Her mind constantly kept wondering why her Subu was acting strange and ghosting her if their love was true. Piku was in pain, immense pain that she couldn't share with just anyone. Only her pillows experienced the endless silent tears she wept throughout the night, missing her soulmate, her Subu...
