The Golden Egg
The Golden Egg
Once upon a time, there lived a farmer who had a goose. The specialty of the goose was that it laid a golden egg every day!
The egg provided enough money for the farmer and his wife for their daily needs. The farmer and his wife led a happy life.
But one day, greed grabbed the wife of the farmer. She thought of an idea and thought that it would be better to get all the eggs at once, instead of getting one egg at a time! In this way, they would make a lot of money!
The foolish farmer too agreed to cut the goose’s stomach for the eggs.
As soon as they killed the bird and opened the goose’s stomach, to their horror there was nothing but only guts and blood!
The farmer and his wife realized their folly and cried over the death of their magic goose, the goose that gave golden eggs!
Thus the moral of this story is that greed destroys reason and takes us on the wrong path! We should not be greedy and think before acting.
