The Fossil Temple
The Fossil Temple
Hello, I'm Max and I love playing football .and today, let me tell you about a crazy adventure that all began with my love, a football. It was the summer holidays but I didn't have much to do .every, the morning I would play on my laptop or spend the day playing football with my friends. But one day something strange happened, I woke up and went to brush my teeth .while going to complete my morning routines, I saw a football. An unusual football, a football that wasn't mine and was big bright and red. Probably my friends had left it with me? I didn't pay much heed to it. But afterward, it followed me everywhere. if I went to sit on the couch, it would roll over to me. My sister kicked it and it reflects from the window and falls near me. Then I got extremely anxious and kicked the ball with great force. It popped, deflated, and fell down. Suddenly, there were flashes of blue and red light that came from the deflated ball. I went to check why that happened, I found a tiny chip in the ball. I thought that this was probably a crazy idea of birthday invite from Allan. Allan, my dear friend is a computer genius and loves making crazy inventions for fun. So obviously my next course of action was to ask Allan what was his invention about this time because I couldn't figure it out.so I went to his place and asked what the purpose of the chip was. He instantly looked serious, pulled the chip from my fingers, and inserted it quickly into his phone. Weird, I thought. After a few minutes his phone stopped functioning normally, a black screen came up with a red pointer as though it were tracking something. "that's weird", he said. That's probably when I realized that this wasn't a crazy birthday party invite. We quickly took our bikes and started following the red pointer like we were trying to find some sort of treasure. after a few miles, we seemed to get closer to the red pointer. And from far it seemed like a huge house, upon closer inspection we realized that it was an old mansion that had not been opened for a very long time. Of course, as the curious detectives in us became excited we couldn't wait to find out what was inside. And oh, the inside was a whole other story. We walked in with surprised faces, in awe. The inside of the mansion was absolute, beautiful. The house was decked with the most recent technologies and games, with the closets filled with the best clothes, with a grand meal in the dining hall, and the kitchen stacked with different snacks, a huge swimming pool, and the washrooms had warm jacuzzi's. We were so excited that we completely forgot about the chip that was in Allan's phone and went on to enjoy these treats. After an hour or so, when we had filled our tummy with all the food, had played all the games, had all our fun, we suddenly heard a strange noise from the drawing-room. We went over to see what had happened. The chip had managed to come out of the phone, which seemed very confusing, and the chip began making loud and obnoxious sounds. Allan quickly put the chip back into the phone. As soon as he did that, the red pointer began flashing on the screen again. It seemed as though it were tracking something else now. Something... Inside the mansion. We followed the pointer, which led us to a room.
It had a huge red door, with a huge padlock on it. Beside it was a screen with numbers, presumably it was to enter the passcode to unlock the door. We found a small piece of paper on the floor that had the letters a, h, c, and f wrote on it. We were excited as we thought that this was probably the passcode. But instantly we were disappointed to realize that the passcode was supposed to be numerical. And all we had were some worthless alphabets. By now it was too late, and we knew that our parents would get worried. Or worse, ground us. So we removed the chip from Allan's phone and rode back home. I had wasted a lot of time on this investigation and had no time to do my homework for the summer holidays. Which was due in a week. I quickly sit down to do some math, I was doing a sum where I had to look for the value of an if the value of b was 2, and c was 3. That's when it struck me! The passcode. The alphabets were supposed to be counted in alphabetical order to find out what number they were. So if a was 1, then h was 8, c was 3, and then lastly the f stood for 6. Ureka! I had found my passcode, i836. The next day Allan and I rode our bikes to the mansion and quickly ran the room with the big red door. We quickly typed in the passcode, a little terrified and a little bit excited to see what the door held behind it. As soon as the door opened, we saw a small room, with another huge door that had 10 more locks to it. By this time Allan was bored and had given up. He looked at me and said, " max let's go down why to waste time on trying to unlock these when we can have all the fun of this mansion?” But I was determined to know what this was about, so I told him that I would unlock each one of these and if he didn't want to, he could leave. Allan quickly left saying that he was going to play and not waste time on this. I spent the entire day trying to unlock each lock, by 6 pm I was able to unlock all locks. The door opened ajar, I walked in nervous, next what I saw changed my life. There was a temple, but I couldn't recognize who the temple was built for. I walked in and saw that the temple was filled with fossils. Fossils of different species that were centuries old. I knew that this was a fortune to find. I quickly ran home and informed my parents of the same. My parents quickly called some paleontologists that worked for the government. They quickly followed me and I led them to the fossils. They were extremely shocked, soon they realized that this was the house of a multimillionaire that went missing a few years back, and since then his house had been shut and not sold to anyone. I was quickly praised by everyone and received hefty prize money. I was also awarded an award for my findings, my school was talking about these and so were my friends, I also had some news channels interview me. Allan all throughout this felt sad and upset as he was not a part of this, purely because he had given up soon. He spent his days in jealousy and regret. I tried to be a good friend and made him feel better and made him realize that sometimes we must be proactive and not give up too soon. He realized that he could have had all of this, if he had put in efforts, just like how I did from the first passcode to the last. But the questions that still bother me to this day are how was that mansion fully decked with food and amenities? Like they were waiting for us, and even more so who sent that ball? Was it the millionaire? Or was it someone else? We would never know.
Moral: never lose hope, always determine to not give up. Hard work will always give you a prize.
