The Forest -3

Myra and Rohan started early. They packed all the necessary items, including some snacks and drinks.

Rohan drove into the forest. The weather was pleasant, so he turned the volume of jazz music high, and drove

deep into the woods.

Soon they came across a clearing, where Myra had taken a break earlier.

Rohan jumped down. He strode towards the clearing and took photographs of tree stumps of trees that were felled." Oh! My God! Exclaimed Rohan. How could they be so cruel? They have looted the most precious treasure. "

"What? " Myra enquired.

" Myra these trees were 1000 years old. Come count these rings on stumps.

Just for a few bucks, they have robbed the forest of its precious treasure!"

"Oh! No"Myra too exclaimed.

They both began to search. Going further, they came across some partially burned wood. and ash. Few traces of bones and some empty rum bottles were lying around.

They realized what must have happened.

Along with the felling of trees, they were hunting, mercilessly killing some wild ducks, pigeons, deer, and rabbits., Roasting the game and thrusting liquor down their gut. This Rohan and Myra assumed, exchanging glances. They were aghast.

This forest boasted of inhabiting many wild animals. Some rare flowers and birds were also sighted.

Myra wanted to take a break.

"Rohan let us have some snacks. I am hungry. " Myra said "OK. What have you brought for me!"

"Here, taste these chocolate doughnuts. Mom prepared it yesterday evening. You'll love these. "

Rohan loved them "Wow! Your mom is a great cook "

They resumed their survey.

And soon reached a pond. Myra was mesmerized by the beautiful water lilies and some ducks enjoying the

crystal clear water. Her gaze fell on 2 beautiful Swans smoothly sailing at a distance. She remembered the ballet dance 'The Swan".

Rohan was keenly observing her. He was proud of her.

He became more respectful of her for the endeavour she had ventured into.

They had wandered off too far from their jeep. So they decided to go back. Anyway, it was getting late, so they quickened their steps. "Eeek!Rohan !" shouted Myra.

Rohan turned around only to see Myra in a deep pit. Myra had fallen into a pit. A trap was laid for wild animals. Rohan immediately took out a rope from his knapsack

He always carried these

things wherever and whenever he went into the jungle.

Rohan shouted "come hold the rope. I will pull you up."

He tied the other end to the nearest tree. With a tug, he pulled Myra up.

He soon pulled her out.

She was out of danger.

But it was getting dark.

They had lost their way to the jeep.

"Don't worry Myra. I have a torch. I have already sent a

SOS. My folks will be here any moment.

By the time he finished his sentence, they saw a flashlight directed

towards them.

"Sir are you alright? We are here."

"Thank God!" cried Myra.

The rescue team from the bungalow were worried when Rohan did not reach. He had instructed them before.

They were escorted to the jeep.

Myra was home but shaken after the bitter experience.

"Rohan are you alright? Hope no bruises. !!"

" I am enjoying this hot chocolate drink and chocolate doughnuts. Your mom is an excellent cook "

They both laughed together. Loudly!
