A tenant farmer harvested rice by the sweat of his brow so that the next few months' trade satiates his children's hunger. One wretched morning, his landlord snatched him of his harvest and evicted his family from the only life they knew. 

Helpless, he made a final purchase of pesticide. This time, not for the crops.
