The E-A-R-T-H As They Call It!

Mars – Martian year 7148

Before starting the journey, Appu made sure that he hadn't forgotten anything. He got on the train, headed towards his home. Appu felt really tired, after all it had been a wonderful, miraculous and tiresome journey that he had had.

It all started about 2 years ago........

He was a fifteen year old studying in Martian Strix School, which was one of the best schools in Aramia, a place in Mars. Appu was one of the best students of the school, especially in science. He had been gifted with an extraordinary intelligence. His caliber made him got selected as child voyager in the space shuttle, SFDNP-1 (Shuttle For Discovering New Planet) by the Martian Space Research Organisation or the MSRO.

Appu had been privileged to be part of the SFDNP space shuttle. The astronauts, a total of seven people, including Appu, got on to the space shuttle and took off to space.

After about nine months or so, they entered the atmosphere of a planet. The planet was mostly blue in color with some green and some white, here and there.

The SFDNP-1 started to burn. The emergency alarm started to ring. Everyone got on to the emergency shuttle. They pressed the eject button and it got separated from the SFDNP, the parachute was made open and the shuttle started gliding in the atmosphere. The shuttle slowly landed on the surface, the astronauts curiously got out and looked around.

There seemed to be trees, except they had green leaves and brown trunk, unlike in their planet which had red leaves and a purple trunk. There was water as well, but it was blue instead of yellow as was in mars.

The Martians later came to know that this weird planet is called ‘Earth’. It had weird looking animals and birds. In mars, the animals had eyes that stood out of their body, ears that seemed as sharp as a blade and they walked on two legs. The birds there were gigantic, with really long beaks.

The Martians noticed that they seemed to have an unusual feeling of having something more....... One of them jumped up and flew as high as an earthly bird could. They were amazed by this sudden burst of power. As they strike a tree, it got cut and fell to the ground.

They walked further, though it seemed difficult to walk at first, they then got used to it, and reached what earthlings called a 'City'. Appu thought, earthling are far behind in technology. While walking Appu came across a human, as was what they called themselves, who introduced himself to be Arun. Their language seemed uncanny, yet somehow Appu managed to interact with them. Very soon, two of them became good friends. Appu introduced his fellow travelers to Arun and he welcomed the Martians cheerfully to his home and Appu certainly enjoyed their hospitality.

They saw that earthlings are using mobile phone even now, which the Martians, the whole lot of them in Mars, had thrown away to be replaced by ‘WordsWorth’, a new kind of technology, to overthrow mobiles. This was done to prevent any harm caused by Electro-Magnetic Waves to birds.

Even though people of Earth were far behind them in technology, Appu still felt happy and admired the way earthlings kept trying to improve life with new and new pics of technology.

Mr. Ram, Arun’s father was a scientist in ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation), and he introduced the Martians to the Indian Government. They were honored by the Government and the Prime Minister assured them to make arrangements to get them back to Mars.

Mr. Ram, conceptualized a space shuttle to Mars which ISRO took hardly three months for production and departure. Before leaving, Appu made sure that the technology ‘WordsWorth’ and earth’s mobile technology can be integrated so that he can keep in touch with Arun. They bid farewell to everyone and started their journey to home.

Appu had enjoyed his trip-no journey- to earth and would tell his friends all about it. He thought that this new planet is an Ecological Adventurous Repository True Home or as they call it............The E-A-R-T-H!
