Once upon a time there lived 2 friends, Kate and Kara. They lived in a PG. One day when they were on their way to the dining hall they realized that one of the doors was always locked. “All the doors in this floor are unlocked, why do you think this is exceptional? Do you find it suspicious?” asked Kara. “Perhaps the group has gone out” said Kate in her typical casual manner. However, Kara doubted it; secretly she found it quite mysterious. Though her suspicion was not left for long....

When they went to the dining hall, they met the owner of the PG. After debating with herself for a while, Kara couldn’t resist asking Mrs. Bennett about the mysterious locked door. “You must not go into that room, come what may. Do you hear me?” she said, in a very grave voice. Kara was taken aback. Considering the calm Mrs. Bennett, this reaction was shocking!

Mrs. Bennett was a widow. She was a calm and gentle soul. She had light brown, wavy hair, hazel eyes, rosy cheeks and pink lips. She had the most beautiful and the easiest smile in the world. Kate and Kara were really fond of her.

However, this reaction of the calm Mrs. Bennett made Kara even more curious about that room. Later that night, she and Kate had an argument, but finally Kate fell for Kara’s pleading eyes. They made a plan of sneaking into that room, while Mrs. Bennett was busy with her work.

Next morning, they woke up early and got dressed. They went down stairs to the locked door. “Oh shoot! We didn’t think about how to break the lock” said Kate. “Why break the lock, when we can open it?” said Kara. “ You didn’t rinse your face in the morning, did you? How do you suppose, we can open the lock without a key?” said an irritable Kate. “If there is anything I am good at other than in English, it is using my hair pin cleverly” said Kara with a mischievous smile. She unpinned her hair. Within seconds, the lock was picked. Kate opened the door nervously, the door opened with a creek.

Both of them went inside. To Kate’s immense relief and Kara’s huge disappointment, all they found over there was an old bed, some photographs of a young, pretty looking girl and dust. The girl had beautiful, blue eyes and light brown hair, strangely identical to Mrs. Bennett’s.

After rummaging through the room both of them soon became exhausted and decided to go back. That day, during breakfast both of them made up their minds to go into that room again. Luckily for them, Mrs. Bennett was going out of town that day. She was to return in the evening the next day. They decided to go into that room, tomorrow afternoon. So, they didn’t bother about the door until the next day.

The next day dawned; both of them got dressed and went downstairs to have breakfast. That day was a Sunday; Kate had picked a movie for them to watch. They left immediately after breakfast. By the time they came back, it was already 2 pm. “Oh no! Mrs. Bennett is supposed to come back by 4 pm. It is already 2 pm now. This means, we have only 2 hours to investigate the locked room again. Let’s hurry!” said Kara.

Both of them rushed to the locked room, Kara quickly picked the lock with her hair pin and both of them entered the room. As usual, they found the pictures of the girl. They again started rummaging through the things. It had been one hour since they were investigating. Just then, Kate got a call from her parents. “Hey, my dad is calling. I will be back.” said Kate. “Yeah, no problem” said Kara, who was now sitting on the bed, yawning. Apparently, Kate’s ‘just be back’ was an hour.

But little did she know that she was in for a nasty shock. When she was back, to her utmost horror, she found Kara lying on the bed, covered with blood. The bed was spinning like a fidget spinner, at the same place. For a moment, Kate froze in her position. She couldn’t move and then the room was filled by an agonized shriek. Luckily for her, Mrs. Bennett just entered the house, when she heard Kate shriek.

She ran to the room, and looked equally traumatized as Kate to see Kara in such a state. She immediately started shouting at the top of her voice: “Calm down, Sheila. Calm down. We are extremely sorry to invade your privacy. I assure you, it won’t happen again. This girl is innocent. Please leave her. Please leave her.”

To Kate’s amazement, the bed slowly stopped spinning. Once the bed came to a halt, Mrs. Bennett told Kate to take Kara to the room and tended to her wounds with cold water and a towel.

After a while, Kara regained consciousness. Mrs. Bennett was smiling down at her. She took a moment to get used to, to the surrounding. Then, a very perplexed look came into her face. Mrs. Bennett, read her expression quiet well. “Wondering what exactly happened in that room?” asked Mrs. Bennett. “Yeah. It was like, one minute, I was lying on the bed and the next, the bed started spinning like crazy, and it felt like someone was smacking my head with a glass bottle and the next thing I know is I am on this bed” said Kara. Mrs. Bennett gave her a warm smile. “That room belongs to Sheila, my sister. She was very suspicious in nature. She never trusted anyone, easily. Then she found Emerd. Soon, she fell in love with him. After a few months of their relationship had passed, she began to suspect him of cheating on her. But only this time, her suspicion was true! He had an affair with Kaira, who was apparently Sheila’s best friend. One night, she discovered both of them together. She saw them, unable to control her emotions, she screamed at Emerd. She didn’t know what to say, she slapped him and ran away to hide her tears. She decided that she shall call off the relationship the next morning. She had started to hate men because of their disloyalty. She spent the night crying in her room. But Alas! She couldn’t see the next morning. That night someone murdered her. But, that wasn’t particularly the reason behind, why the door was locked.” said Mrs. Bennett, observing Kara’s (still confused) face.

“It’s a story of about 10 years ago. Shortly after Sheila was gone, I had to go out of town for some work. When I returned, I found my husband lying on the same bed covered in blood. It was a similar sight to what happened to you today. The only difference was that he was no more” said Mrs. Bennett, wiping off her tears. “But who killed Mr. Bennett?” asked Kate, dazed. Unable to absorb so much information in one day, “Why, of course it was Sheila. Remember I told you that she had started to hate men? This was one of her acts to show, how much she hated men. Shortly after that incident, I had called a soul communicator to communicate with Sheila. After the communication was done, Sheila had clearly said that, she wants to spend her after life in her own room, thinking about all the mistakes she had committed in her life. She had asked us to lock the door of her room and to give her that space all to herself. If anyone invaded her privacy, that person shall not return alive from that room. Since that day onwards, that room is locked.” said Mrs. Bennett.

“But whom do you think murdered Miss Sheila?” asked Kate, meekly. “Who was the last person to have a motive to kill, Sheila? Who would want to avoid facing Sheila the next day? Who would want to take revenge of the slap, Sheila had given him?” asked Mrs. Bennett, answering Kate with a bunch of other questions. “You don’t mean to say Emerd murdered Miss Sheila, just because she slapped him and knew about HIS disgusting behavior!” exclaimed Kate, horrified. “That’s exactly, what I mean.” smiled Mrs. Bennett.

The thing that is hard to imagine is that, out of all that happened, Sheila was the one who faced the consequences of things that were not her fault AT ALL. She died because her boyfriend cheated on her. No one can ever understand her pain.... Except for me, for I am Sheila Bennet...
