The boy lies on the ground, bruises covering his body. His silver hair brush against his face. Slowly, he opens his eyes, but his vision is blurry. He puts his hands on the dry land to stand up, but his body hurt. A pain shoots up his side. Giving up, the boy stays on the ground with his eyes shut, unaware of the footsteps approaching him.

He lies there trying to figure out the place he's in. Vibrations on the ground draw his eyes back open. Pebbles tremble and in distance he sees some sort of creatures in black approaching him. From what he sees, they are the size of an elephant with fiery spheres for eyes and their hands hung till below their knee with claw like palms. He pays them no heed until they stand near him and one of the creatures claw the boy by his neck. The boy puts both his hands around the creature's and tries loosening its grip, but he has no strength. The creature next sinks his nails into the boy's neck. Whatever energy the pale boy had remaining, drains out. His hands fall back to their place without putting up a fight.

'So is this how I die?'

He loses consciousness, the world turning black for him.

Sniffles echo from a distant place.

"It h-hurts."

A voice of a little girl, not more than seven.

"Please stop—" She cries, repeating the same words over and over again.

"Kyaaaaaa-aaaah"

Jolting from his sleep, the boy pants and grips his chest to stabilize his breathing. "It was just a dream... just a dream," he says to no one in particular.

Realization hits him when his neck starts to sting. "What happened?" He traces over the nail marks on his neck. Memories of his attack gush with renewed ferocity, forcing him to live in the moment once again. He's still in the deserted place.

'Why am I not dead yet?'

'What were those creatures?'

'What is this place?'

His head hurt thinking about those questions. Exhaustion and hunger take over him, but he needs to move and find shelter. He picks himself up from the ground scanning his surroundings. The air is slightly with only a desert around him. He walks without any destination in his mind. He needed to find answers. Why was he here, and why couldn't he remember who he was?

Aimlessly, the boy walks for a long time. His eyes grow weary and the pounding in his head never ceased. It's getting darker by the hour. In the far distance, he sees rays of light and decides to follow it.

The source of light is from a small town. Upon entering the gates, the boy hears music and voices of people in the background. Thus, he walks in the inner part of the town. An exhausted smile creeps onto his face when he finds himself no longer alone. There must have been a festival going on as the boy could see booths selling different variety of food, some that held games for patrons to try their luck with, and other fun events. He heads towards the source of music, which comes from a circus show in the middle of the festival grounds. He watches in awe, the members of the circus performing different acts.

The boy's stomach grumbles with hunger. He feels weak. Walking around the carriages of the circus situated a bit further from where the performance is taking place, he enters the one with a red curtain and scans the place. There are clothes and props lying around, a full body length mirror and finally some fruits in a basket with two bottles of water placed beside it. The boy hungrily grabs an apple and eats it. He gobbles up half of the fruits in the basket and eyes the remaining half. Wrapping the fruits in his dirty sky blue shirt, he leaves the carriage with a bottle in his hand. He sneaks out but is startled when a heavy hand on his shoulder gets a hold of him.

"And where do you think you are going?"
