Suhasini is now seventy-eight years old. She is a retired government school teacher. Besides her teaching profession, she practiced and still practicing homeopathy medicines. She knows three languages and since her student life had been a voracious reader of Hindi, English and Bangla literature. She is a kind-hearted lady. But she is straight-forward and true to her words. A good wisher of mankind, she sincerely keeps praying others' welfare. These are a few features of our Suhasini, the main character of this story.

‘Didi’ has been her pet name since I came to know her. Almost all of her students, colleagues, and acquaintances call her ‘Didi’. As a child, she underwent hardships. But she never gave up. She managed to study hard despite unfavorable circumstances.

Didi was born in Dhaka, the capital city of present Bangladesh. But circumstances made her move from one place to another. She had her primary education in Maharashtra. Then she came to Uttar Pradesh and went for higher education at Allahabad. On completion of her education, she got the job of an English and Math teacher at a primary school.

Didi was a loving teacher, a thoroughly disciplined, student-concerned and a knowledge-seeking teacher. She used to gift a Pilot pen to each student who scored more than sixty percent marks.

Besides this, she used to treat common ailments effectively with her self-earned mastery of homeopathic medicines. And because of effective homeopathic treatment to her students, colleagues and school staff she earned another name - ‘Pain Killer Didi’.Her medical help was available to anybody who needed at any time and anywhere.

To be good does not necessarily yield only rewards. Good has to pay its price. Didi also was not its exception.

Her school Principal was an egoistic and arrogant type of chair holder-Mrs. Latika. She never approved of her independent and out of the way approach in the school. It seems she doubted her capabilities and was envious to her popularity. So the relation was pretty sour. Probably there was a silent clash between both of them since last few years. Everybody sensed it and none expected any improvement in their relations.

But her suspicions and doubts were removed when a newly admitted girl student innocently uncovered the capacities of our loving Didi. It so happened that the Principal also used to teach English in the school. In one of her class, she asked students to write an essay on ‘ the best teacher’. And this newly admitted girl-Amaya Sharma-in her essay honestly depicted all the merits and characteristics of Suhasini didi with pure innocence.

Amaya’s innocent write-up on Didi indirectly wiped away all negatives from the Principal’s mind. Although this secret got revealed only after Amaya finished school. As time passed Amaya became famous as the most talented, active and popular student of the school. Because of her simplicity and studious nature, she was known as Didi’s favorite student.

Time elapsed and Amaya got married. And to her great surprise, her in-law's house was adjacent to Didi’s home. God had planned to make them meet again to continue nurturing their selfless relationship.

Amaya, by now is a well-known social activist and professor in a reputed college in the city.

Whenever time permits she visits Didi. She finds inner peace whenever she enters Didi’s room. On the other hand, Didi also gets relaxed, unburdened and her heart begins to palpitate with new ideas and new dreams whenever Amaya touches her feet. Apparently, this is a thirty years old bond between a teacher and student for others but there is an unknown strong bond of love between their souls which is unperceived by others.

Once didi fell down the stairs and got traumatic brain injury and she stayed unconscious for two days. But when she opened her eyes in the hospital after two days the first thing she murmured was 'Amaya'.

Amaya got pregnant for her first issue. She wished to have a ritual named as God-Bharai,-a ceremony where a would-be mother's lap is filled with gifts. But such ritual was not in vogue either in her in-laws home or at her mother’s home. Knowing this fact, she did not utter her wish to anyone. Surprisingly, one evening during her eighth month of pregnancy (that is assumed to be the right time for the ritual) didi appeared at Amaya’s home with a variety of gifts, dresses, sweets, and toys to celebrate that ceremony calling her ‘My daughter’. And Didi miraculously fulfilled Amaya's wish.

Some social bonds are so intense that a common belief finds next to impossible to decipher why and how two get connected.

Message-One plus one makes two or eleven it depends how much deep ‘two’ feel for each other.
