Madurai Shanmukavadivu Subbulakshmi

As we all know,
Madurai Shanmukavadivu Subbulakshmi was a great Carnatic singer from Tamil Nadu. She was born on 16 September 1916. She was 1st musician ever to be awarded the Bharat Ratna. She was the first Indian who performed in the United Nations General Assembly in 1966. She awarded Padma Vibhushan in 1975.
M.S.Subbulakshmi gave her first performance at age of 11 in the year 1927 in 100 pillar hall inside rock fort temple Thiruchirapalli. She gave her second performance in Madras Music academy in 1929 when she was 13 years old. She made her debut film Sevasadan in 1938.
She was honored as Asthana Vidvan(Resident artist) of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. Thirumala Urban Development Authority has installed a bronze statue of M.S.Subbulakshmi.
Madurai Shanmukavadivu Subbulakshmi died on December 11, 2004. Her voice is always memorable in our hearts.
