Rachita got up grumblingly from her midday nap, to answer the recurring, irritating doorbell," How many times have I told you, people, to let me take a nap of at least an hour in the afternoon, otherwise my BP increases... No!! Nobody in this household cares about this middle-aged woman working incessantly throughout the day!!"

She got stunned and turned pale as if she had witnessed a ghost when she opened the door. Yes, the ghost of herself from the long lost past, who had tormented her subconscious time and again was standing in person in front of her, to confront with the past she had long since forgotten or so she had thought.

"What do you want"??, hissed Rachita like a venomous snake, to the woman called Kandhei, a slum dweller girl, from whom she and her husband had run away stealthily in the middle of the night,19 years ago, forgoing their well established diagnostic and medicine business in their home town and had settled in a faraway hill station, embracing mediocrity and middle-class social status too willingly.

Kandhei answered firmly," I want my son!! She produced a court order to validate her claim." Rachita collapsed on the doorstep and her husband Rahul ran to help her...

When Rachita was revived to her senses by sprinkling cold water on her face, she got shattered like a broken wreck and fell at Kandhei's feet crying profusely," Please don't snatch Rahul from me. He doesn't know about the surrogacy. He loves us so much that he will breakdown if you tell him the truth. My day starts with him and ends with him, my whole universe rotates around him. We'll die without him."

Rahul exclaimed with a surreal expression, "We had paid almost 10 times of the amount settled in the contract for your surrogate pregnancy, but it hasn't quenched your thirst for money, you greedy woman. Don't you feel ashamed of trading your womb and blackmailing the clients next onwards as a profession? We had to run away with our son, leaving everything we had and our family when you went on lengthening the case by your absences and your never-ending bargain!!"

He ordered Rachita not to lie at this cruel-hearted woman's feet assuring her that he would immediately get a stay order against the court judgement.

Kandhei threatened that they were not seeing the last of her and she would take her son by hook or by crook so that he would be her support for the rest of her life.
