My Profession

Rakesh works as a postman in the city of Ahmedabad.He is a postgraduate in History and has a good career.However due to the nonavailability of work, he does the work of postman.

One day he got a letter of appointment for a person named Bijay.When he saw the address he knew that it was of his childhood friend.

Quickly and happily he took all his paraphernalia and straightway headed to his friend's home to deliver the letter.

In his home, Bijay sat dejected as he did not qualify for the civil services.When Rakesh arrived, he opened the door and both friends wished each other.Rakesh handed over the appointment letter to Bijay.

When Bijay opened the letter, he saw that he was appointed for the post of a peon in the Railway department.Bijay looked little confused.

Rakesh asked that why he was not happy!

To this Bijay replied that he was a first class first student through out his career and is a postgraduate in commerce.He had applied for this post as he was not getting any job.But now how could he join as a peon!!

Rakesh explained that no job is small or big.Every job has its own merit.A sweeper also has his importance as without him the roads and buildings would not be clean!

A carpenter is important as he makes furnitures for the society!!

Likewise all jobs are important and a person should do his job with efficiency.It is this proficiency in work which would count in the long run.Like for example, a carpenter who makes good furnitures is sought after and has a name.But a carpenter who uses weak woods to make his work and doesn't finish the work properly, very soon runs out of clients!!

Hence even if Bijay does the work of peon, he should not think this job to be small, and should do it efficiently!

Bijay understood his friend's saying.He decided to join!

The next day he set forth in his journey to become an employee of India's greatest job-provider, the Indian Railways!!!
