Rishab lived with his parents, Sagar and Shanti in his small cottage in a village. His father, Sagar worked in other's fields to earn money and support his family. Though his income was small, they managed to eat two meals a day.

One day Sagar got bit by a snake while working in the fields. He called for help but as there was no one nearby, he remained unattended for hours, before being spotted by others.

They rushed him to the hospital but he had already passed away. This was a big blow to Shanti as his son was small and his husband was no more. She had to now work in the fields to support the family.

Slowly Rishab grew up. He began studying in college. One day he asked his mother to give her five thousand rupees as he had to go on a study tour with his friends.

Shanti told him that she did not have so much money with her. However, Rishab was adamant. She had to borrow money and give it to her son.

During the study tour, Rishab met with Elina. Both studied in the same college but in other departments, hence had not met before. While interacting with her, Rishab developed a soft corner for her.

After returning from the study tour, Rishab took Elina with him and introduced her to his mother. He said that he wanted to marry her.

Now Elina was a girl with an angry disposition and was immature. She did namaskar to Shanti and went out of their small cottage. Shanti tried to make understand to Rishab that Elina was not the right girl for him. But Rishab was adamant to marry her.

After finishing college, he secured a decent job in LIC and married Elina.

Elina was a mean girl. She told Shanti that she would not cook food. And when Shanti cooked all the food and Rishab came back home, she lied that she had to cook all the food and hear the sour talk of his mother. And when Rishab would take the matter up with his mother, she would quietly laugh and become happy.

One day she knowingly burnt her hand a little and told Rishab that Shanti had burnt her hand over a trifling matter. Rishab became furious with anger and asked his mother to leave the house.

Shanti left the house and began living in a temple on the outskirts of the village. After some days Rishab got admitted to a hospital after he complained of chest pain. The doctors told his wife Elina that they have to do the operation soon as his condition was serious and there was a hole in his heart. They would soon need a donor heart or else Rishab would not survive!

Elina was very scared. She did not know what to do. This news reached Shanti. She at once came to the hospital and urged the doctor to take her heart and save her son!

The doctors tried to convince Shanti to change her decision as this would mean her death! Shanti said that she had no one other than her son! Her husband had left them long back. Now she cannot see her son die before her own eyes!

The doctors finally agreed to take Shanti's heart. The operation was successful.

After two days when Rishab got back to his senses, he asked Elina what had happened to him!

Before Elina could answer, the doctor came into the room and congratulated Rishab for the successful operation. He said that they had to transplant Shanti's heart to him as it was his mother's last wish to see him hale and hearty!

Rishab & Elina both cried with tears in their eyes. But now it was too late. Shanti was no more. Just then Rishab heard a sound coming from his heart...'Dear son, I had promised not to lack anything in your upbringing. I have never even thought of doing any bad to you and always wished that all the good should come to you! I am giving you my heart as the last thing I could and till the time you live my heart will go on ....love you son!'
