My Appreciation Letter

My Appreciation Letter

My resignation letter was the outcome of my anger towards the management of my school. They hadn't sanctioned my 15 days leave for going to Patna to see my ailing mother in law.

My young & sentimental mind couldn't accept this. Although this was my first job & was giving me much joy & reasonable salary, my principle of working in a private institution with a resignation letter in my pocket, ultimately forced me to resign. Cynthia James, the principal asked me the reason but furious that I was, couldn't say anything.

After the notice period of one month, came the day of my farewell. I was really happy that day. ' Why to work in a school which couldn't even give a few days genuine leaves to the teachers? ' I thought. The party began with some appreciative words in favor of me by the principal & the secretary of the school, then a gift by my colleagues followed by a sumptuous meal. At the time of departure, I was handed over two envelopes which I never felt like opening even after reaching home in the evening.

At night before going to bed, without much curiosity I opened the first envelope & the letter of appreciation brought tears in my eyes. Adjectives & phrases like 'diligent teacher, very encouraging to students, popular & hard working, having the patience to deal with weak students' elated me. The second envelope had my last salary alongwith the money for all the leaves that I had taken. My leave was sanctioned.

That day I learned a lesson that if you are angry, become more communicative to the other party & take decisions only after you cool down a bit. This will definitely bring no or less repentance.
