I still remember the day of Diwali when Puchu, my elder son, was coming home for the festival. He was not well. We had gone to the railway station. When I saw him coming down the train, I felt that he wasn't so bubbly as he used to be. I could also notice swelling all over his body. Mother's intuition was that something is serious.

We came back home and I served him food and savouries of all kinds which I had prepared for him. But he said he wouldn't be able to eat so much and took only a little bit of whatever was given. Already on medicine for his upset stomach, he said that he would have the rest of food later. Now this was really shocking because I had never seen him saying no to food.

Then he went to sleep and I could hear his' aah aah 'as if he was moaning in deep pain. Late afternoon, he got up and prepared for the light decorationsand made rangoli as usual but I could see that he was feeling tired.

As it was the day of Diwali, so I planned that I would show him to the doctor on the next day and this I did the next morning. Not understanding that the matter would be so serious, I sent him to the doctor. When he came back, he was smiling and he said his B. P. was very high 210/ 120 , which was quite unusual for not only his age but any age. We immediately rushed to the hospital where it was diagnosed that his kidneys had stopped working. The doctor's statement was, 'his kidneys are on strike.' We were also told that there are no medicines to revive the kidneys and that only helping drugs can be given for the revival and we had to wait and watch Darkness was all around me but I apparently showed my courage. I could witness tears in my husband's eyes & suddenly became very brave as if I've to take control of everything.

But after a few hours, I realised that nothing was in our hands and if God has put us in such a situation then he will only solve everything. And I left everything in the hands of God. For three days continuously his creatnine level was rising , which was very critical. Anyone can understand what any mother would've gone through in such a situation. But I was outwardly very brave, able to hide all my emotions.

On the fourth day the creatnine level started coming down which was a sign of revival & refunctioning of his kidneys. After two more days, he was discharged from the hospital .

His B. P. medicines still continue but I'm thankful to God that his kidneys started functioning properly. Leaving every thing in God's hands made things clearer to me and I could handle this emotional stress in a much better manner.
