Mourning of the Ocean

The Ocean was sombre and quiet , as if it was sad. It was looking at the group of children playing in front of it on the shore. There was a young man, apparently the father of the three children. One of the children, a boy was playing with a replica of a ship in miniature. To the outsiders, it would look as though the group was happy and enjoying themselves in the beautiful surroundings. But indeed they were forcefully smiling, pretending to be very happy and joyous. The sea knew how shallow their smiles were, reaching only their eyes but never their hearts.

Their hearts were heavy with sorrow. The ocean had seen the same group accompanied by the mother of the children running and playing in full abandonment. Pulling or pushing each other and having a hearty laughter which was reverberating. That day out, on the seashore, can never be forgotten, The ocean took a heavy sigh. After that the husband and wife came to the seashore several evenings and never smiled. It was as though they carried a heavy burden on their shoulders. The ocean noticed that the woman was getting frailer by the day and eventually never came back.

The ocean knew everything and silently shared the grief of the husband and the children. That night the ocean became restless with high waves. Deep down its belly, it was like churning, wave after wave rose and fell. Why do I have to see all the tragedies as a silent spectator? I have seen so many families and individuals grieve for their loved ones, how many stories are there within my deep layers? Is this what my destiny is? Mourned the ocean.
