The Darkest Night

Chapter 7

Karthik came back to his car, He saw Brinda sitting there with her eyes closed, he got in and Brinda opened her eyes because she felt Karthik's hand around her shoulders, she opened her eyes to see the yellow thread hanging on her chest, she looked at Karthik in shock. Wha?!what did you do Karthik? No No! this isn't happening!" she screamed. "I don't deserve a pure soul like you! why did you do this?" She cried aloud. "Because I know you love me!..." replied Karthik. "Your heart is benevolent .... and I know I have a place in there..." he said looking into her eyes."but my body..... It's impure now..." she whispered, lips trembling as tears gushed out of her eyes. "your body and soul both are pure and holy because whatever happened with you was an accident, you did not commit any sin". Burying her face in her hands Brinda sobbed harder. "Well... I know it's too late for this question but still....Will you accept me as your husband?" Questioned Karthik. Brinda hugged him tight and exclaimed " ohhhh I love you to the moon and back Karthik!". Holding her hand he said "I will never let go of this hand Brinda, I love you too". 

"Will your parents accept me Karthik?"

 "They have to Brinda, because I am not giving them an option". "I am scared" said Brinda, "you don't have to be..... all I need from them is blessings not permission and I know my parents, they might be upset for their only son marrying without even telling them ..... that's it, you don't worry about anything I will take care of all that. Let's go to our house first, its been longing for you". 

Karthik started the car and drove her home. He held her hand and looked at her... They both stepped into the house together... The begining of a new journey.

Brinda looked around the house Karthik,with a wide smile on his face said "look at the life you've breathed into my house ...you've made it a 'home'.... My dream came true today, I can't believe you are here... as my wife!! He shrieked out of utter joy! Brinda shyly smiled. Karthik took her to the bedroom and opened his wardrobe, she found sarees and many other women's dresses. "whose dress are these?" she questioned. "It is all for you, I bought them and saved it for you Brinda.... so that you can use them when you come to live with me". Brinda kept looking at him with overwhelming love. "Choose whichever you like freshen up, I will wait for you". 

Brinda came out after changing, Karthik pulled her made her sit beside him,picked up his phone  and said "now...let's call my parents!!"."I am scared!" replied Brinda. he smiled at her, brought her hand to his chest and nodded at her indicating that he'll handle it.Karthik made a video call to his parents. After a few minutes of general discussion, he said "Mom,Dad....I want to tell you something. I uhhhh married the girl I love dearly". "Stop your silly jokes, what are you doing at home? Didn't you go to office today?" questioned his mother. "Mom i am serious.... I married someone today!" He said and he turned the camera towards Brinda, shivering a little Brinda wished his parents. "What the hell have you done?! Here we are, dying to see our only sons wedding and you got married without even telling us!! Have I ever said no to you for anything!"cried his mother. "He has no respect for us!!" said his father and hung up the call. "See I told you, look how upset your parents are with you about the wedding....what if they get to know you married a rape victim?". "It is not necessary for everyone to know what happened to you. I know my parents they will accept us, so now...." he pulled her cheeks playfully and said "smile!!!". Her lips curved into a beautiful smile, karthik stood up waving his hands around her face "this... This gives me joy" he said and kissed her on her forehead "now you stay here I am going to cook dinner for you!" "No way Karthik!! I will cook for you and you wait here". "Its been years...you haven't eaten good food... For until the next month I am not going to let you do even any work, so you sit here and I will go cook." With a puppy face Brinda asked "can I at least come sit in the kitchen" Karthik agreed to it. 

Karthik was cooking, sitting on the kitchen slab Brinda was admiring him. Karthik's phone started ringing, it was Charan, "oohhh... he is going to kill me for marrying without telling him". Karthik answered the call, Charan said "sorry Karthik I couldn't make it up to help you with the discharge formalities". "No worries Charan but why don't you join us for dinner, Brinda is with me now". Oh cool I will be there in a while". 

Karthik cooked dinner and the door bell rang, "it's charan he's gonna be surprised to know we are married... I can't wait to see his reaction". Karthik opened the door, "hey buddy come in!!!" said karthik "where is Brinda?" Asked Charan and walked in. "Hello" said Brinda and Charan looked at Brinda without a blink, he then looked at Karthik and stammered ' you... you ...you guys are married?" With a smile Karthik nodded his head to yes. "You idiot!! He said and smacked Karthik playfully on his shoulder"you never told me, what was the necessity to marry in such a hurry.....as if you have no one to support you, I have been with you in all stages of your life how did you forget me?" Karthik said "it was a spur of the moment decision... in fact that was a surprise to Brinda as well". "I am happy for you both, I wish you both live long, have many children and love each other unconditionally forever". "Thank you'whispered Brinda. 

All three chatted for sometime and had dinner together, Brinda kind of felt comfortable and started talking to Charan well. "Karthik whats your plan I suggest you take atleast a week off". "Yes even I thought of that.I will talk to the manager tomorrow" said Karthik. "cool...I'll make a move then.... bye Brinda" he said and walked out, Karthik walked with him until the gate. "She has gone through enough in her life, take care of her well buddy... I know you will... what I am trying to say is help her to forget her past with your love". "I will Charan" replied Karthik, "fine see you soon take care" said Charan and left. 

It was close to 10:30pm, Karthik and Brinda went to bed. He kissed on her forehead and said "sleep peacefully... I am there for you". Brinda looked at Karthik and asked, "in all these years did you not even like a single girl? karthik nodded his head to No. "How can I when you had my heart with you?" he questioned. Brinda smiled, she again asked him has anyone ever told you that they liked you, I am sure someone might have proposed.... Karthik remembered Shreya. He said "there was a girl but i clearly told her I am in love with my Brinda". "What's her name she asked?. "Shreya' replied Karthik. He turned to look at her but Brinda had already slept. Karthik quietly turned off the light and walked in the washroom. His phone rang, Karthik answered the call and the other person on the call cried "Karthik!!!!! please save me, these guys are following me!!!!" Shreya screamed Karthik.
