The Darkest Night

Chapter 5

With tears in her eyes Shreya was quietly watching Karthik who was taking caring of Brinda. They spent quite some time there before they left. 

Karthik dropped Shreya back at her PG. they spoke nothing while riding, once Shreya got off the bike, she looked straight into Karthik's eyes and softly said "I am sorry". He replied, "don't be... Shreya. I hope you understand why I was worried about you and why I slapped you.... So, please don't ever make the mistake of going to that place again and put your life at risk. you can definitely call me anytime for any help, take care" he said and rode away. 

A week passed, it was close to 10:30pm karthik was returning home after visiting Brinda, as he was passing through that fateful place he remembered Shreya. "it's been a week I did not see or hear from Shreya" he thought to himself and he heard his phone start ringing. He stopped the bike and took out the phone from his pocket, it was from the same hospital where Brinda was hospitalized, Karthik quickly answered the call and he said "What? I will be there in next 10 mins". 

Karthik took a U turn and rode his bike as fast as he could, he reached the hospital and ran into the ward, doctors and nurses were surrounded the bed, he went closer and looked at Brinda, she looked at him and softly whispered "KARTHIK". Tears rolled down from karthik's eyes, he held her face with both his hands and said "Brindaaa!!! you remember me!!" She nodded, Karthik hugged her tight,looked up and cried "thank you God!!". 

Karthik felt a touch on his shoulder, he broke his hug and turned around, the doctor said "i can only call this a medical miracle, Close to 7 years... we had absolutely no hope........ until a few minutes ago and she started saying your name, she seems to be completely fine, let's keep her in the hospital just for another day under observation and then you can take her home and yeah, please inform her parents too". "Sure doctor I'll do that and thank you so much!" he replied.

Brinda held Karthik's hand and she looked puzzled, karthik asked "is everything fine with you? Should I call the doctor?" "They, they repeatedly raped me, I was beaten, I have become filthy, I don't deserve you Karthik, my parents will be broken if they find out about this, I don't want to live!!" cried Brinda. 

Lifting up Brinda's chin he said "Brinda listen to me carefully, forget about that incident, you're not filthy, you have a beautiful heart, and all these years my love for you has grown more and more, I am always there for you and I love you unconditionally!. 

Brinda smiled a little and Karthik said "let me call your parents". Brinda resisted "no karthik, they can't bear this pain, please do not inform my parents". Karthik held Brinda's hand and said "Brinda, you've been in this hospital for close to 7 years now. You were in a coma. Your parents are aware of everything, they often come visit you" Brinda was surprised. 

"What do you mean I've been here for 7 years?" Questioned Brinda. "Yes nodded Karthik, I lost my life, my happiness everything because of those bastards and I wish I kill each one of them with my own hands". 

"It all happened because of me, you were waiting for me and those Idiots took advantage of the situation, but let's forget everything and start a anew. I need you in my life, your love..... will you marry me?" Questioned Karthik.
