Lucknow Diaries

Lucknow, the place of history and wars, is a very attractive place. It was a wintry night. The train was already booked a month ago. The departure timing was 1:10 am. The entire station was calm and quiet and we were the only people on the entire platform. The train arrived. We took our seats. After a minute or so, the train left the station behind. The wind was as cool as like ice. We were tired. I took the lower berth as the place to sleep. When I woke up, it was already 9 am in morning. A bard entered our coach, singing some melodious poems. The morning was fit for having tea. We already had a flask full of tea. My mother gave me a cup of tea and a biscuit. The arrival time was 5 pm. I eagerly waited for the arrival time to come. As the train came nearer and nearer to Lucknow, the entire weather suddenly changed. I was frozen. My teeth were trembling due to the deadly cold weather of Lucknow. We stepped out of the train. The station was in fact, looking like a palace with so many artistic touches on the walls and corners of the station building. As we crossed the flyover, I spotted some beautiful flowers, a fountain, animals, and some ancient universities on the sides of the road. So, first, we decided to visit the Lucknow Residency.

The entire complex of the Residency building was so beautiful and eye-catching. But, it was somewhat horror too. The cremation ground with the long graveyards was so dangerous at night. It had many horror stories abound. After roaming around the whole Residency buildings, we went to the hotel that we have had already booked beforehand. The next day, we decided to visit the Lucknow Zoo, or popularly called Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Prani Udyan. It was a breathtaking place. My special attraction was over the Royal Bengal Tiger, Asiatic Elephant, Golden Pheasant, and Blackbuck. There was also a museum in the zoo. The museum was holding some remains of the arts of Awadh, mythological objects, and some bronze structures. The leading attraction of the museum was the Egyptian Mummy.

The gallery house of the museum was composed of some of the images of Hindu Gods and Goddesses, Lord Buddha, Jesus Christ, and many other spiritual images. It also holds a vast collection of many terracotta images, copper, bronze, and silver coins. We stayed in the museum for two hours. We were roaming and roaming in the museum and at last, fell tired. The sun was also going to set off. Our imbecility made us go back to the hotel. After reaching back to the hotel, I opened my shoes, cleaned my hands and feet, and went to take a long sleep. Then, at nearly 9 pm, my father came up with four packets of biryani. After completing the dinner, I again went to sleep. The next morning, I incited my parents to visit the famous Lucknow Bhoolbhulaiya. My parents booked a cab from a mobile application. The cab reached our place within a few minutes. I was very happy. We reached the Bhoolbhulaiya in about an hour. The Bhoolbhulaiya made me remove all the thoughts. It was a big, fort-like house.

As I stepped inside, I noticed the perfect artistic decorations on the walls of the entrance. But, the real mystery was inside the palace. According to the fact, if some sound was made in the lowest chamber of the Bhoolbhulaiya, then the sound can also be heard from the upper chambers. There was an in-built echo system in the whole building. If someone enters the Bhoolbhulaiya without a guide, then he/she is going to be lost because the Bhoolbhulaiya was having many doors and each door took different directions. But, within all the doors, only one door was on the way to the exit point. Outside the Bhoolbhulaiya, a man was performing marionette. Marionette is a game or act that is performed widely in the whole Lucknow city. At night, we decided to visit the 'Sahara Mall'. The mall was well known for its antique collections. The upper part of the mall was holding a game parlor. My target was to go there and to play some games.

So I accompanied my brother and ran up to the game hub. After playing some games, we went to see a 5D show. The show was great fun. I could see and feel the pre-historic forest with the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Velociraptors, Saber Tiger, etc. Lucknow is a very big city. For visiting the whole of Lucknow, one has to pass about ten days. But, our trip took almost fifteen days. The Lucknow diaries will remain immortal in my heart. It is in fact, the best place I have ever visited.
