Series of vintage letters that have been exchanged between Rajesh Kumar ( A mechanic ) and Sheetal Uma Das ( A classical Dancer ) by a tiffin box.

1st letter - Raj to Sheetal

                         7th April 1978,

                         At my small, untidy room

My Sweet Sheetal,

                  I'm in front of the foggy window while it's drizzling here a lot. Thinking about you, I just started to write. Here I'm not alone. The tiffin box you sent me hiding a letter is with me. What a lovely tiffin box it is. Ha, Ha ! I know, you are going to ask where my roommate is. He went to his home in Ahmedabad after six months to see his parents. It has been one year, I couldn't meet my parents. It is an agonizing pain for me.

However when, I see your smiling glass eyes on this aluminum tiffin box, my paining arms, legs, and heart are healing like a magic, after spending another dull, tedious day in Bombay.

        First, I must apologize to you my love. My intention was not to miss your show. I know, you must have been waiting for me to come. Believe me, the ticket, I bought to watch your show is also with me. I have kept in my vollet. But I had to finish the repairing of Mr. Chatterjee's Fiat. Though working in a garage is not easy, specially in Bombay, I can't give up cause my livelihood depends on this job. When I was on the way to my room, I saw your big poster in front of Bal Gandarva Rang Mandir with the title;

" Radha-Krishna Classical Ballet with Dancing Goddess Sheetal Uma Das" .

                  I wish, if this grease monkey didn't meet such an angel. If you didn't come here that day to repair the tire puncture, we would never meet each other. Fate has changed everything. I came to Bombay to be an actor but was ended up with being a mechanic. But, whenever I feel regret about it, I just recall you. The one & only best thing that happened to me in Bombay, is having you.

My lady love, finally I just want to say something special to you. I bought a pair of Golusu Anklets for you from my last wage. It is not as luxurious as the pair you wear daily for dancing. But it's really rich with my love. So I guess, you will love it. Tomorrow morning, I will leave the tiffin box with the watchman of your dancing class. You can find my gift and this letter inside the tiffin box. I will stop with the promise to come to see you as soon as I can. Love you re piyaa. Love you so much. God bless you !

                                                            With love,

                                                         Rajesh kumar.
