It’s Raining

Prologue::

In western Odisha amidst hillocks and lots of greenery exists a beautiful planned city which is rich for it’s mines and mining company and for one of the oldest and prestigious institution of Odisha.

It’s famous for it’s scorching heat in summer, chilled winters and wet rainy season one  can smell the soil.

“Ohh it’s unbearable .I don’t feel like going to canteen today. Why can’t they have morning classes only. Are you going to washroom. Water is boiling Nina.”

I am too tired. May be I will take some rest before freshen up. We can go for late lunch. Ohh god I am toooooo…. tired. See my skin has rashes. What to do Anu? We don’t have ice also.”

Anu stretched flat on her single bed . “We need to ask canteen guys to give us some. Thank god at least our room is pretty cool. Top floor girls hardly able to sleep at night. “

“You know Nina, I wanted to have some lassi today . Will go for lassi to Sector-2 and  then will roam around outside.”

Few hours later :

Anu still half asleep yet murmuring “what’s the noise. I wish it’s raining Outside ”

“Wake up Anu, it’s actually raining heavily “.

“Ohh ,I was dreaming about rain just now . Is it my dream which is true or I was dreaming because of rain and thunderstorms sound . But anyway , it could have waited till we have our lassi.  I desperately wanted to have something cold. Frustrating you know , if your dream comes real in no time.”

“It’s ok Anu. Let’s go upstair. All other girls already went there to enjoy the rain.”

Ok let’s go. Let me have the keys and lock the door. 

They locked the door and quickly moved to upstairs.

It’s raining heavily. The earthen smell after first shower on dried clay is heavenly.

“Hmm I feel like watching it and listening to this rain music you know “.

“ I feel like jumping in rain Anu.”

Someone pulled their hands into the rain. Let’s do it in tribal style to welcome first shower with dance. 

Nina gave a hearty smile.” Let’s just jump Anu. That will be more exciting ”

It’s then when both of them holding their hand and taking circles there , Anu sense a soothing coldness which not only quench her thirst but also cooling her mind, her soul.
