Dhruv And His Tryst With Terrorists

Dhruv is a commando in the elite commando force(SF unit) of the Indian Army. He has trained hard to get to where he is now. His hometown is Vizag and he has his parents and younger brother staying there. His kid brother is in BTech final year studying at GVP College of Engineering. 

Dhruv says that he got the inspiration to join the commando unit from reading the Dhruv comic series published by Raj Comics. The full name of the protagonist of this comic series is Dhruv Mehra and is a super commando known as Captain Dhruva.

The unique thing about Captain Dhruva is that, unlike most other superheroes, he does not have an alter ego and never hides his identity behind a mask. He does not possess any superpowers; but he makes up for that with his intellect, detective skills, ability to talk to almost every kind of animal, scientific knowledge, martial art, and acrobatic skills, determined willpower, and a desire to eliminate evil from this world.

Our real-life Dhruv also seems to inculcate these qualities of Captain Dhruva. This was evident during his tryst with some terrorists, a few months back in Kashmir.

The army had begun hunting for this batch of terrorists on April 1, when some of them had infiltrated into Kashmir with ground troops reporting their footprints near the Line of Control(LoC) fence, which was covered under snow.

It was a dark day for the army’s Special Forces (SF). During a close-quarter battle with five terrorists, five commandos of the SF unit were killed in action along the Line of Control in Kashmir’s Keran sector on Sunday, April 5. Dhruv was also a part of this unit. He took an active part in this battle. In fact, a bullet from his gun hit one of the terrorists. All five infiltrators were eliminated in this operation.

However, five jawans were also martyred. Dhruv knows now that his life is not a bed of roses. Apart from leading a difficult life physically, it is an onerous task in the mental front as well. Coping up with the death of five teammates was not at all easy for the entire unit. In fact, Dhruv lost a close ally in this combat.

However, Dhruv still reads the Captain Dhruva cartoon series regularly and draws inspiration from it. He has at least one copy of it in his bag all the time!
