It was a cold, dark night in the small town of Millfield. The moon was hidden behind a thick layer of clouds, casting an eerie glow over the streets. Detective Sarah Johnson was driving home from a long day at the office when she received a call on her radio.

"Johnson, we've got a report of a break-in at the old Millfield mansion. We need you to investigate."

Sarah groaned. The Millfield mansion was a notorious abandoned house that was said to be haunted. She had always avoided going near it, but duty called. She arrived at the scene to find the front door kicked in and the house shrouded in darkness.

Sarah's flashlight barely illuminated the hallway in front of her, but she could hear the sound of footsteps coming from deeper within the mansion. She cautiously followed the noise, her heart pounding in her chest.

As she turned a corner, she saw a shadowy figure in the distance. She raised her flashlight and called out, "Police! Stop right there!"

But the figure didn't stop. Instead, it began to run. Sarah gave chase, her footsteps echoing through the empty halls of the mansion.

The figure led her to a room at the end of the hallway. The door was partially open, and Sarah could hear the sound of someone breathing heavily inside. She pushed the door open, her flashlight illuminating the room.

And that's when she saw it.

The walls were covered in blood. The furniture was overturned, and in the center of the room was a mutilated body. The figure she had been chasing was nowhere to be seen.

Sarah's heart raced as she realized that she was in the middle of a crime scene. But this was no ordinary crime scene. The brutality of the murder was beyond anything she had ever seen before. She had a sick feeling that she was dealing with a psychopath.

As she surveyed the room, she noticed a piece of paper on the ground. It was a note, written in a scrawling hand:

"I've been waiting for you, Detective Johnson. You're the only one who can stop me. Come and find me."

Sarah's blood ran cold. She knew that she was dealing with a deranged killer who was playing a twisted game with her.

She turned to leave the room, but the door slammed shut behind her. She tried to open it, but it was locked tight. She was trapped.

Suddenly, she heard a whisper in her ear. "You should have stayed away from the mansion, Detective Johnson. Now you're mine."

Sarah screamed as she realized that she was not alone in the room. She turned around to face the figure standing behind her, holding a bloodied knife.

The last thing she saw was a deranged smile on the killer's face as he lunged towards her.

And that's how Detective Sarah Johnson became the latest victim of the Millfield mansion.
