Button phone

Ravi was pestering his father, Somappa to buy him an android phone so that he could attend the online classes, but alas did he know that his father had lost his job during the pandemic and could not afford to buy him the android phone. Somappa nodded his head and went out of his house, desperately seeking a job to meet the needs of his family. Ravi was hoping that his father would definitely buy him one soon.

Somappa was walking down the main road when he saw the famous mobile shop of the city decorated with balloons. He walked in after making a mask out of his towel. He asked the shopkeeper to show him the mobile. After looking at his shabby outlook, the shopkeeper made fun of him and told him that he should go to a local shop nearby where he could buy a button phone. Somappa replied to him that he just wanted a phone to help his son attend the online classes. The shopkeeper asked him if he had 10 K in his pocket, to which Somappa nodded his head. The shopkeeper immediately called out for security and asked him to send Somappa out of his shop. Saddened by the happenings, Somappa walked out of his shop in obedience. 

Somappa was very upset with what had happened in the shop and as he walked out of the shop, he overheard the security calling out for him with a bag in his hand. Somappa had forgotten his bag at the shop. As somappa neared the security, he scolded him for leaving the bag behind and threw it on his face. Somappa took the bag and left the shop.

It was already evening, Somappa could only get few bucks for cleaning the cars in an office near his house. He bought the grocery enough for that day and reached his house.

The moment Somappa reached his house, Ravi came running and took his bag away in hopes of getting a new mobile. Somappa tried to control his tears. As he freshened himself up, he heard Ravi screaming. Somappa rushed towards Ravi, not knowing how he would pacify Ravi for not buying the mobile. Ravi hugged Somappa and took out the mobile cover. Somappa was speechless. He didn't know whether to be happy or sad after seeing the new mobile phone. He couldn't stop looking at Ravi who was busy exploring the new phone.

Somappa told his wife to prepare some sweets the next day and went straight to the mobile shop first thing in the morning and offered the sweet to the security as he knew that he was the one who had slipped the new mobile box into his bag. The security told Somappa that he had bought the mobile just to talk to his family, which he could do even with a button phone, but Somappa's son could not attend the classes with the button phone, so he thought of giving it to him as that would serve the purpose. Somappa couldn't thank him enough and when he offered the sweets, both the security and him enjoyed it together, all for a button phone.
