Peeking through the window, her surprise turned into horror at the thing that she saw through the grimy, dirty excuse for the glass. The loud noise it emitted reverberated through her entire body, sending chills down her spine. She cursed her curiosity, her stupidity for peeking into that window. Rooted to the spot in sheer horror, revulsion, and the slightest bit of awe. The thing in front of her was convulsing and moving around, twisting and turning. The smoke around the form only allowed her to see the silhouette of the thing, but she knew immediately that either something was terribly wrong with the thing, or with her eyesight, for she could see four arms, and four legs.

Her eyes never left the terrible thing, her nose filled with the stench of rotting eggs, sweat, and mildew. A door banged open and she started, having stood there rooted for the past fifteen minutes. Her hand left the dusty, grimy glass, the memory of having placed them there missing. Her palms were covered with dust and grease, the glass having a clear mark where her hand had been seconds ago. She inched backward in fright, tripping over a few packing boxes that had lain strewn around. Her ears strained for a noise, some sound to indicate her of imminent arrival of the thing, or someone in league with it.

The telltale sound of a leather sole striking the marble sound reverberated through the empty hall. Her pulse quickened, her heart threatening to leap out of her chest. The steps got closer, and she hit a wall, shrinking down to the floor in the darkroom full of packing boxes and crates. The footsteps were getting even closer now, she shrunk down as far as she could, tucking her chin into her chest. She could almost hear her heartbeat, feel her blood run cold as the footsteps sounded as though they were next to her.

“Are you alright, dear?” asked a kind, deep male voice, sounding friendly, albeit a little worried. She looked up shaking, to see a young man with an outstretched arm. It would have been normal if there weren’t for the extra arms and legs surrounding his body. She let out a high pitched scream and tried bolting when she fell over again. “My dear, you needn’t be afraid. I’m not an alien, I’m as normal as you. I was just finishing up a project, and these arms and legs are gadgets attached to me, I can remove them.” Peeking out, she saw that he had disentangled himself from the extra parts, and in front of her stood a handsome, tall, fair-skinned man with white-blonde hair, grey eyes, and a wide grin across his face. She smiled back, knowing a lasting friendship had been formed in that instant
