It was a cold night, darker than most. The rain was pelting the windows.

There was an eerie calm inside the house, an indication of the impending doom. I lay in bed, a picture of calmness & composure. But my mind was as turbulent as the storm outside. I knew I was running out of time and I had to decide fast. He would leave soon. I was juggling a number of ideas inside my head, but one, in particular, kept screaming out to me. I let out a loud sigh. Yes, I had made my decision, knowing full well that it would probably cost me my life.

I slowly reached under the pillow and removed the gun from its hiding place. I'd have to be careful, very very careful. I opened the door as quiet as a cat. One peep into the hallway confirmed that the coast was clear. I tip-toed gently into the drawing room, cautious not to make any noise. He was there….. All alone, dressed in a crisp white shirt. Huh! Little did he know that it would soon be soaked in red. I went to stand quietly behind him. He was reading. He was so engrossed in his book that he didn't notice me. I slowly raised the gun and pointed it at the back of his neck. Suddenly, my hands started shaking. I couldn't understand why. I had done this so many times. I don't know why I lost my cool now. My finger slowly went to the trigger. 1…..2…… No! No, I can't do this! But why not, whispered a small voice in my head. Why not considering what he has done to you? Yes, that's right! Why not?! I decided to pull it before I lost my nerve again. 1……….2………3….I closed my eyes and pulled the trigger.

At first, he didn't know what had hit him. His shirt was smeared in red. I could see the shock in his eyes when he turned, as the red liquid trickled down his body. Once the realization dawned on him, he screamed," Ackkkk…! YOU...YOU brat!! Mommy!!! She squirted red ink on my brand new white shirt!!" I took the water gun and ran to the shelter of my room. That was revenge for using my very old, not in use, but still my most favourite skirt for cleaning his bike!!!. He came up to my room and banged at the door," come out! Come out right now!" I switched on my music system and turned the volume high but not before yelling," this is what they call 'facing the music!". Boy, revenge sure is sweet!!!
