A Cup of Tea
A Cup of Tea
Murari wakes up at 5 every morning and goes for a walk. When he comes back a smoky hot cup of darjiling tea waits for him. Tea is the essense of his life without which he feels his day is incomplete.
He lives alone with his servant Sitaram in an isolated house away from the city. His wife had died 5 years back and his son, Kunal, works in the city. Daily schedule is very hectic so he has to stay there and hardly has time to attend to his aged father.
Oneday, Kunal visits him and tells him that he wants to take his father back to the city with him and sell the ancestral property. " No.. this is my ancestral house and whether I live or die I will not allow any one to sell it.
He tried to convince his father many times but all in vain. Then after another 2 years Murari Jadav dies from a heart attack. " Now, what next", his son asked his wife. " Sell it... He is no more what's the use .. you will not stay here".
The next day he went to the builders and showed them the house. At night he went to sleep early. The phone rang at 6am. " What Sitaram?", He asked.
"Babu.. bbba..ba..ba..bu"
"What happened? Are you ok?"
" Babu cha kheyechen.. "
Kunal remembered his father's last meeting with him which was 2 years ago on this day when he said, "Whether I live or die I will not allow anyone to sell it".
"Chere din .. babar bari ami bechbo na" , he told the builder and cut the call. In the meanwhile baba was sipping a hot cup of tea.
The radio was softly playing..
" A dekhai sesh dekha noi toh.."
