Your Choice
Your Choice

You never really knew me,
Never cared to, when you had the chance;
And I never cared to show you my dreams.
Glimpses into my soul,
What did they matter-
In the pursuit of the superficial;
Who we were and what we sought?
Nothing but the skin we wore.
Stolen moments, hidden corners;
Shadows trading secrets-
Did it matter who you were with,
When the outer shell is all you crave?
Lies are a conscious choice,
And choices reveal a lot.
Do not settle for the mediocre,
Life is too short for guilt tr
ips.
Wander alone, if need be;
Solitude teaches the greatest lessons.
Do not seek to compromise,
For security is overrated.
Sometimes its better to be alone,
Than settle for a pretense.
Denying a truth long evident;
This was never you.
Your choices once mirrored,
Your beliefs and dreams;
Do not drug your mind,
And go where the wind takes you.
Stop still a while and listen,
Your heart sings a different tune.
The hurt and pain, last but a little while;
Regret and repentance, will haunt a lifetime.
