How Many More?

How Many More?

How many deaths did she die

How many tears did she bleed

Before she dared to put her pain in words

Bare her skin and her soul

For her to finally realise

They belonged only to her

Who gave others the right

To force her to cover

Her flawed nakedness was so much purer

Than the ugly, dark, poison

That ran through their veins

Her skin and her scars

Bore the brunt of their viciousness

The arrogant, cocky aggression

They would escape scot free

Society accepts, it fawns even

At displays of raw power

How long could she kneel bent and fragile

Enduring the crazed outburst

How many blows does it take

Before the body gives up

And the spirit finally wakens

To the truth that was glaring all along

How many acts of cold indifference

By a cowardly world

Before you stop caring any more

About pointed fingers and tainted names and

Free your soul of the bondage

Speak! Let the cold, bitterness out

Release the words to flow

Rivers of blood oozing from the heart

Let it shame, destroy, rip apart

Every perpetrator of hate

Let us empower, respect her voice

Make her fearless to face every fire or fury

So that tomorrow another girl dares

To be burnt to the ground

And yet, to rise from the ashes
