You Should've Known Better
You Should've Known Better
My mouth was shut, though I had lots of things to say.
I seemed strong, but my knees were shaking under the table if you cared to care!
My eyes shone the brightest leaving not the slightest clue of sadness,
But again, isn't that a clue in itself for you to notice?
I spoke of nothing and never have I even wanted to,
But,
You should've known better when I said I was cold on a warm summer day.
You should've known better when I talked about the rustling
Of leaves sounding like the clanking of chains.
