Yashoda, A Stubborn Girl

Today was the last day in college because today was the last exam of our final year. At the end of the examination, when all the friends met outside, everyone's eyes were moist. No one could understand when three years had passed. By taking each other's mobile number, then promising to meet again, everyone slowly started going. But there was someone who was still standing there waiting for someone. There I found that Yashoda was trying to hide the tears falling down from her eyes.

The story of my first meeting with Yashoda is also very strange. This happened when I had my first year in college. Something like this happened that one day a college girl was going towards the library holding some books on the side. I too was going to the library but was in a little hurry. As soon as I passed by her, the books fell on the floor as soon as I collided with her. I was very embarrassed. Apologizing, I handed her the books that fell on the floor. Saying thanks, she left for the library.

Our second meeting was in the canteen where she was waiting for someone. I had some friends from my class with me, and we were going out of the canteen after having tea. I went to her and wished good morning. In response, she also said hello. I asked her if she was wait for someone. “Yes, I am waiting for my friend Anshul, but it is not too late yet” she replied. I looked at my friends, perhaps they understood my point, and left the canteen. I asked the girl, “If you say, may I join you?” First, she hesitated, then gestured to sit smilingly. While drinking coffee, I said, “I am Rahul and what is your name?” She said that her name was Yashoda. Like me, she also had his first year in college. Now very often we used to meet in the canteen and sometimes in the college garden.

One fine morning, Yashoda's history period was empty, she was forcing me to go out after bunking class. I did not deny that day, but explained to her, “We come here to study, from now on I will never bunk any class to hang out with you. “Perhaps she had realized her mistake after listening to me.

In this way, with the pace of time, the sequence of our interactions had gradually turned into friendship. Now secrets of the heart also started sharing. We also started taking care of each other's choice. Sometimes I was afraid if this friendship was taking the shape of love somewhere. Sometimes, there was a dilemma in my mind regarding this matter, after all what should I name this anonymous relationship. I was not taking this sudden newly born relationship more seriously. But I could realize that Yashoda had an affinity for our new relationship.

One day she looked very happy. When I asked the reason, she started saying that she was having two tickets of English film at Chanakya Theatre. I jokingly said. “Who is that lucky man with whom you are going to watch an English film.” Quickly she replied, “You.” I said, “Yashoda, I told you earlier that our friendship will be confined to college frontiers, not out of it. Forgive me, I can't come to see a movie with you.” Before I could finish talking, she tore both the tickets and hurriedly left in anger.

It has been six months since this incident, there was no conversation between us. Even after my lot of efforts, her anger was not going away. Between us, as if a storm had come and stood, the distances started growing. Having made ail possible efforts, I too gave up hope and concentrated all my attention in studies.

As a last resort, I tried to contact her through her friend, Anshul, but all attempts failed. For the first time in life, I came across such a stubborn girl. Anshul suggested me to spend some time with her. She said, “As soon as Yashoda comes to know this, she would be jealous of seeing both of us together.” One day, Anshul and I were drinking coffee in the canteen. In the meantime, Yashoda also entered the canteen, but ignored us. Intentionally, now we started visiting the library as well. Anshul's trick hit the target.

Today from which direction did the sun rise? As I was sitting in the library preparing for the exam, Yashoda came to me and said, “Let's go to the canteen and drink coffee.” As soon as we reached the canteen, he held my hand and said, “Rahul don't get me wrong, forgive me. I understand that you are not like other boys.

You are totally different from others. I love you so much. Trust me, now I will never give a chance to complain. " I also got emotional after listening to her.

One fine evening of Aashaadh (Rainy season), we were sitting in the Lake Garden. There were dark clouds in the sky, it was drizzling. Yashoda hugged me tightly and said, “Today, even the weather is witnessing the romance of Kalidas and his beloved Mallika. Respecting her feelings, I was unravelling her hair with my fingers.

It was the month of March, the winter season was on the descent, Holi's hangover was clearly visible even inside the college. Final year examinations were also coming close. I called Yashoda in the Rose Garden of the college and said, “I have to talk to you about some important things.” On hearing this, her face went into silence.

I proceeded to say, “I know that we both love each other immensely, but it is also true that there is a challenging life ahead of us. What is your plan after the end of college? I have decided to do something on my own. At the moment, I intend to open a commerce coaching centre. “Regarding her plan, she intended to complete M A first, then do preparation for administrative services exam and her family too had the same desire. As the examinations were on the head, me and Yashoda used to meet occasionally.

Now only one month was left for the examinations to start. Instead of going to the college library, I thought it better to prepare by sitting in a park, which was close to my house. I explained the same thing to Yashoda, and she agreed to me. During this period, one day Yashoda called me over mobile and told that she wanted to meet me. When I asked the reason, she got angry and disconnected the phone. Then I called her back and laughingly said that I was just kidding.

Then we decided to meet in the college library as I had to exchange some books. Exactly two hours later we both met in the college library. After finishing the library work, we went to drink coffee in the canteen. For some time, we kept discussing the preparation for the exam. Then suddenly don't know why Yashoda stood up, and while pulling my hand, she said,

“Let's go to the Lake garden, behind the college, to discuss rest of the plans. In one of the corners of the lake park, where the shade was, we sat on the green grass.

Yashoda put her hand on my hand and said, “Rahul, can we meet on alternate days. I don't know why I feel that someone is taking you away from me, far away. Nowadays. I am afraid that after the exam are over, lest we should separate from each other forever. Whenever I start studying, a strange fear has started haunting me."

I saw that she was panting while talking. There was also kind of vibration in his voice. Her eyes were flooded with tears. Then she put her head on my shoulders and started crying loudly. I tried to explain to him, “Yashoda, you also believe that we both respect each other very much and love each other. But this does not mean that we should stop thinking about our future by falling in love."

I further added, “Since both of us were going through the phase of youth, such thoughts are bound to come in our mind and are often born in every young person's mind at this point of life. Love, attachment, attraction, all are part of human life. It is not bad to want someone, it is bad to blindly sacrifice one's future for someone's desire. If men and women love today, it is possible that there can be a compulsion for marriage tomorrow. Though we have every right to decide our lives, we have to respect our parents' emotions too.”

Those golden and memorable moments spent with Yashoda in college were still wandering in my mind. Wiping her tears with a handkerchief, I explained to her, “Stubborn girl, the real beginning of life is now.” Yashoda cried a lot for the second time today, keeping her head on my shoulders. It was getting dark. Promising to meet again, we both left for our homes.
