When Everything Goes Wrong
When Everything Goes Wrong
My kid was all ready for school but her breakfast was not –
Had sat up late in the night with a project and overslept.
Rushed to make her a couple of dosas but the gas was over.
Switched on the induction stove but there was a power failure.
Hurriedly made her a couple of jam sandwiches which she disliked
But could not grill her a cheese sandwich.
With a grimace, she went outside waiting for the autorickshaw
When the loud ring of the mobile pierced my ears.
The rickshaw was not to come and I had to leave her at school.
8 o’clock - both of us rushed out and managed to reach just in time
On the way home, caught by the police for not wearing a helmet!
While opening the door smelt something burning – power was restored
And the milk pot had boiled over and everything around was in a mess.
I counted ten and started cleaning up trying to remain calm
There were vessels too to be done as a maid was on leave.
The audit was due in the office and I had to prepare some statements
Had planned to leave early but everything was out of control.
Sat down for a few moments, took a deep breath to tackle the jobs
Thanks to Swiggy, ordered a pizza for Maya as a surprise lunch!
Got ready in a jiffy and left for office – a luxury as a single parent.
Since I was alone completed my job peacefully and relaxed in my seat
What was the situation an hour before and what calm reigns now?
It’s all in the mind, we need to prioritize and work coolly and calmly.
All the foul mood of the morning disappeared when Boss was pleased
The pizza had set right the little one’s mood and she was ready to hug me
All my cares and pains vanished when the tiny arms stretched to hug!
Thanked God for all that had happened as it was destined to be so.
A friend called making my day and I learnt that all’s well that ends well.
When things go wrong, and they will, stay cool and calm.
