My Guiding Star

It is eight months to the day since you went away

Leaving me pining and to fate resigning.

Just look back and recall how each other would enthrall

On our week-long vacations to various destinations.

In the lap of nature many a scene we would capture

Landscapes, temples, and sanctuaries writing our commentaries

Why did you leave me behind, don’t you think it was unkind?

It was as if it was yesterday that we met in the subway

And we realized that our love was true - you for me and I for you

Three more years had you smuggled we would have been a golden couple

Now our sweet daughters are my only supporters.

It was God’s Will and we all stood helplessly still

When we saw you fight a losing battle close to midnight.

You are now my Guiding Star and I will join you soon wherever you are.
